The Mystery Of The Dead Gray Cat

Yesterday morning my cat almost-feral cat Luna did not show up for her breakfast. This is MOST unusual and made me wonder if she'd died somehow in the night. I told Mr. Moon and about it and he hadn't seen her either and well...
A little while later I was out scouting for things to put in vases and came upon...a dead gray cat.
Oh dear.
I studied it for awhile and noted that it seemed somehow, oh, bushy. Does death create bushiness? Luna is short-haired. But in the wedding preparation frenzy and the obvious missing of Luna, I didn't really think about it too much and called Mr. Moon to come and bury it and he did and then I asked him, "Do you think that was Luna you buried?"
He said, "You know, I think that cat's hair was a lot fluffier than Luna's."
"Was it Ballsy?" I asked. Ballsy is a gray cat who has balls and only one eye who comes and eats Luna's food. And gets in fights at night.
"No," he said. "Ballsy isn't that fluffy either."
"Who the hell did you bury? And where is Luna?"

Luna showed up during the wedding. She was as fine as ever and so, no, we had not buried Luna.
This morning, Ballsy also showed up, looking as bad as ever. I use the word bad in every sense. Big balls and one-eyed. Looks like he gets in fights. Burly cat. Etc.

So who the hell did Mr. Moon bury?

Whoever it was, Mr. Moon said he apologized to it as he was burying it because he buried it in the same area he buries the deer after they've been butchered. And I sprinkled a few rose petals over the grave when he was done out of respect.

So. We buried someone's gray cat. Fluffy. No apparent injuries although he/she could have gotten hit by a car and had internal injuries and run to our yard where he/she expired.

The mysteries of Lloyd.

Good morning. It's a beautiful day. Someone's talking about pancakes. Someone's talking about a boat ride. It's supposed to get up to 90 today. We put on the air-conditioner last night.
Three days ago we had on the heat.

Jack and Jan just commented on yesterday's post so I guess they're still married. (Tee-hee.)

Jessie wants to make the pancakes but I have to go sit in the kitchen and tell her how. Not show her. Tell her.

Here we go. Sunday. Sigh. I had thought to spend at least part of it relaxing with Mr. Moon in the confines of our room. Sigh.

Ah well. That could still happen. Anything can happen. It's Lloyd. The Land of Mystery.

And Batshit Crazy.

In a good way.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. I've been down your way visiting a friend in Graceville. We got around to Bonifay, Marianna some Chipley and to a campground on the beach west of there. The last time I was there was 10 years ago but I did like it there.

I agree, mysterious and crazy in a good way. And I do like your blog and the honesty and openness with which you write about life in the panhandle.

  2. It's probably too late to get in on a boat ride, eh? Anyway, I'm eating eggs for lunch and getting my oil changed.

  3. Maybe Ballsy killed Fluffy in a fight!

  4. I am glad that you did not bury Luna or Ballsy. Hope that today was a good day. A nap was in order here.

  5. Oh my LAWD. That description of Ballsy. Made me spit out my coffee. Again.

What is so very hilarious is that I am fairly new to this blog, so the characters are all new to me. Which I am so, so enjoying. Love Mr. Moon and him not knowing who he buried. Love even more that he put rose petal on the tomb of the unknown kitty.

"Ballsy!" Lawd have mercy! Does Owen know this is the name for him?

  6. Yes Mr M is very kind. I need to catch up and find out the end of the cat mystery. I've missed your blog dear Mary Moon xx

Tell me, sweeties. Tell me what you think.
