Fuck Me. I Was Wrong Once Again

It is a proven fact that I don't know shit.
And no, today is NOT the solstice. It is the fall equinox.

Once again, I fail at science, religion, and truth.

Please. I beg your forgiveness.

But I know when the Hurricane Lilies are about to bloom. I know when my chickens moult. I know when it is time to plant the collards.

Still. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

I am not nearly as embarrassed as I probably should be.

  1. Thank you so much for your comment on my blog. It is a strange time. My soul can feel it.

Summer. How can it be over?

  2. I don't know a solstice from an equinox, or why chickens lay different color eggs or how to raise a child. I bring zilch to the table :) And I dont care either.

  3. ditchingthedog- Birdie- let's remember that there have been entire religions based on the changing of the planetary seasons. I mean...it's serious stuff. We need to be aware of all of it. We may think we're so civilized and evolved but honestly, we're still pretty close to our oldest ancestors.

SJ- That's bullshit and you know it. The things you know and the things you do bring me to my knees with awe. I love you, girl. Don't forget it. Or what I say.

  4. That's ok, I'm 64 years old and I hike with a 44 year old friend and today I felt every inch of my years like WTF am I doing up here on this mountain and NOW I HAVE TO CLIMB BACK DOWN. Shite. But you're right, it ain't solstice.

    I love you.

  6. Thanks! I was wondering what Mr. Moon was planting. Today we were driving interstate 80 across Wyoming when two deer took it in their heads to cross the freeway. No one hit them, but it was just terrifying. We need more predators.

  7. I don't know solstices from equinoxes either and who cares anyway? It doesn't matter what it's called, it just matters that we know the change is in the air.

  8. Actually, I didn't know it was the equinox either. At least you get points for knowing that SOMETHING was going on. :)

  12. Who cares what it's called. Another night with no a/c - windows open - dog barking (ok, we'll forget that part - it's our stupid dog) - hurricane lilies everywhere - a new garden in the making - season opener shows at the local community theaters - ah, yes. It's a great time of year!

  13. Good ole autumnal equinox. No matter--yesterday is engraved in memory because it was the day that Hugo hit this area. I have not so good memories of what Sept. 21 was like.

  14. I don't even try to tell them apart, to remember. I refer to both as "solstic or equinox or whatever one it is". That's my professional description.

  15. Beth- The older we get, the less we know. Am I right? Sure! I can climb this mountain! Hey! It's the solstice!
God. I hope you like my little stories. I knew what you meant.

Allison- That's the deal. We've wiped out all of the deer's predators. There are more deer in the US now than there were when the first WHITE people arrived on its shores.
    Hmmmm....

    heartinhand- Thank you. Yes.

Jan- Amen, sweetie sister! (God. I am so glad not to have any more dogs.)

Syd- That is a horrible anniversary. Those of us who have lived through hurricanes know what PTSD really is.

Jill- And from now on, mine too. Thanks, sugar.
