So Lazy

A quiet, quiet day and I did drive to Monticello and dropped off the deer and went to the Winn Dixie there and picked up some green peanuts to boil and on my way back I had to stop and take a picture of the sign in front of a church housed in what used to be the facility for a chlorine plant.
I think that's what it was.
Anyway, here's the sign.

It just cracked me up so much. I am imagining ladies sitting around, sipping tea and eating cookies, discussing power and purpose in the most Christian, feminine way possible.

I boiled the peanuts and I made some soup and picked up some limbs and I knew that if I laid down I would fall immediately to sleep because it's so gray and so heavy, like a big fat pillow pressing me down and finally, I did lay down on my love couch in the library and read for a little while and indeed, I couldn't help it, I fell asleep and so did Maurice.

She snores.

I'm going to make cornbread. That is all the power and purpose I seem to have within me tonight.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. I made cornbread! Psychic connection, Mary, say no more.

  2. Black Jack also snores...Franny is a silent sleeper. I took a bath. My elbows and knees and feet are so soft and smooth now. I should just bathe more often, in spite of the convenience of showers.

  3. Powerful Christian Women? Sounds like a bit of an oxymoron to me.

-Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.

-Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife...

    Yeah.

I hope your nap was delicious.

  4. I already miss pictures of the babies. Isn't it great when cats snore? So relaxing.

  5. When I saw that sign, I thought immediately of The Tea Party and gagged a little. I like your interpretation better.

    P.S. I love the masthead.

  7. My mom loved holding tea parties. The women who came were the very definition of purpose and power, as she was, which makes me kind of love that sign.

  8. I get distracted or busy and don't check in for a few days and on other blogs I might have missed one or two postings but on yours I have missed half your life! Now I'm going to go back and catch up. It may take me all morning.

  10. Jo- That's funny!

Big Mamabird- I have the most beautiful tub and I doubt I take ten baths a year. I am not sure why.

Birdie- Yeah, I was thinking along those lines. I'd almost be interested in going to that tea party to see what they say. I'd probably get kicked out or arrested though.

Joanne- Cat snoring if far more relaxing than my snoring. Trust me. I wake myself up.

Elizabeth- I'm glad you like the masthead! Trying to go for the historical Florida thing, you know.

Mwa- Maybe when you're as old as I am...

Angella- I can believe that your mama's tea parties WERE about women of power and purpose. Somehow, I think these ladies might be different.
I wish I could have been at one those tea parties of your mama's.

Ellen Abbott- I'm so sorry! Nah, you haven't missed a thing. You are so sweet.

    Heartinhand- Ain't it?

  11. Olga snores too, like a trucker. :)

It sounds so peaceful, to have a nice long afternoon to read and snooze. Even when I have a day off it never seems to go down that way.
