Well, it's getting on time to leave here.
It's been a while since I left the nest myself to travel away. I guess it was when we went down to Gator Bone and spent two nights in the state park in that beautiful old cabin.
Not sure where we'll be laying our heads tonight but I'll have my own pillows so it'll be okay. I'm feeling amazingly excited about it, this getting on the road with my sweetie.
I have a book to read out loud to him and I always love that. Makes the miles pass, gives me a chance to feel like I'm doing my part as he drives.
Everyone, without fail, says that Asheville is just the finest place. I know this must be true. I spent a few summers at camp in the North Carolina mountains as a girl and it was beautiful there. I think of North Carolina and the word green comes to mind. Supposed to be down in the fifties at night and up to the high seventies and low eighties in the day.
Mostly I'm excited to see house where Jessie and Vergil are living. See it before they make it entirely their own. We're also going to meet Vergil's mama and of course I'm nervous about that. I hear she's a potter and a musician and a very fine gardener and also a sort of business woman and I'm already a bit intimidated. But she raised Vergil and I know him and I love him so I'll probably love her too.
Well, time to load up. Show Russell how to deal with the chickens and cats and all that stuff. I hope Pearl doesn't die while we're gone. I wish we were getting to spend more time with Russell. We hardly ever get to see him and I love him so much. He's my baby brother and he sat on my hip as much as he did his mama's. I was his little mama.
But it is what it is.
Time to go, time to go.
I'll be posting from the road, I feel sure. You know me.
Love you all SO much....Ms. Moon
Miss Moon, PLEASE take lots of pictures of Jessie and Vergil's little house and of them and of everywhere you go up there so that those of us left behind will know where our girl has perched with that sweet boy! Oh, how I wish I could go with you - but I'm gonna try to get up there this summer with Aint Liz and Lon the Georgia Peach.ReplyDelete
Have a safe and happy trip, Ms Moon.ReplyDelete
Have a safe trip. I love to think of you reading aloud to Mr. Moon on the drive. And I adore North Carolina (went to college at UNC Chapel Hill!). We'll miss you --ReplyDelete
Okay, this is mean, but we know I am mean already. We've established that. It would actually be sort of funny if PEARL! finally decided to kick the bucket, and it happened on your poor brother's watch. I'm just saying--she HANGS ON and HANGS ON and then. . . . that shit would be ironic, wouldn't it?ReplyDelete
BE SAFE. I miss you already.
And you know I don't want to PEARL! to die EVER. EVER!un
I hope Pearl doesn't die, because Ruh and I would be hilarious trying to dig her a big enough hole. Have fun, y'all! Call me when you get there!ReplyDelete
Looking forward to hearing all about the trip!ReplyDelete
Have a sweet as honey of a good time Mary!ReplyDelete
Miz Moon, I lived in Asheville for 10 years and it is a beautiful place...you will be very happy that Jessie gets to be there, I promise!ReplyDelete
Have a wonderful safe trip.
HAHAHAHAHA..my word verification is suckse...(sorry)
Vergil's mom is going to love you, as do we all. Travel safe with the Man Moon. x0 N2ReplyDelete
Safe jouneying to you both. Have some FUN in Ashville!ReplyDelete
The boy just mentioned being interested in going to college at Chapel Hill. And I reconnected with an old friend with a place in Asheville and she says she'll take me there to visit. So Carolina keeps popping up. I could definitely handle both.ReplyDelete
Do you know how much SB has missed you? LOTS.
So glad to hear from you.
I hope that you enjoy the trip, that Pearl lives, the little house is good, and you like Vergil's family. It will all fall into place.ReplyDelete
Oh Asheville is just my idea of Heaven. We live about an hour and a half away and go every chance we get. Coincidentally, we'll be there this weekend!!! Zeeeeeeeee! Going to Biltmore to gawk at the pretty flowers and the pretty house. I'll be the one in a sundress, pretending my name is Cornelia. Have fun! It is one of the prettiest places in the world.ReplyDelete
SB is funnier than shit.ReplyDelete
And Gator Bone rawks.
An Asheville rawks.
And I am sure that Vergil's people rawk. If for no other reason than Jessie said "Yes."
I always take my own pillows, it's essential.ReplyDelete
Of course Vergil's mum will love you! How can she not!
I think Pearl will hang on too, she's managed this far xx
