Follow-Up

Okay. That was ridiculously easy.

I filled up two giant garbage bags which would easily accommodate a corpse apiece with stuff, swept and then R2D2 and I vacuumed. I put the remaining things in a lovely blue Rubbermaid bin and then set everything back into the closet which had survived the cut.

Stuff. Note the leg bone of the poor Mr. Bones. The rats done took it off.
I no longer have a skeleton in my closet.

Obviously, this is not a new problem.

Clean as a bean! Or at least, much cleaner than before. Shop Vacs really do suck!

I found this interesting. It is a wall in the closet which has a baseboard exactly like all the baseboards in the oldest part of the house. Old Mrs. M. who lives catty-cornered across the street from me told me that originally this house was only one story tall. I found this hard to believe as the second story seems so nicely fitting. But, perhaps she is right.

All tidy and put to rights. And mostly rat-proof.

And now I suppose I should go use that Shop Vac while it is in the house to get to those places in the kitchen where the broom cannot go beneath the cabinets where the floor ends.
Know what I mean?
Yeah. I'm not sure about that space either. But I think I'm going to go try and suck some of the stuff out of it.

And then I'll go take the trash.

Man. I am being SO productive today. Where's my damn crown?

  5. Good job, Mama! I think I might sleep in that closet now. Makes me that much closer to Harry Potter.

  6. Progress has been made! Beautiful job on the closet under the elegant staircase. The stars must have shifted into the get it done alignment today. I threw out some face cleanser that has been in the rack in the shower for a year. I have never liked it but felt I needed to use it up. This morning: Done With It! Which is motivating a number of other moves. Here's hoping this energy lasts the week at least! Back to writing for me. x0x0 N2

  7. Well done! I believe your husband should take you out for margaritas tonight. And you should probably compose a song about winning the war.

And maybe leave the door to the closet open so your dogs can chase any future rats?

  10. Syd- The entire thing is a vermin entrance.

    DTG- Good idea!

Magnum- How did they DO that?

Lois- I grew quickly bored with shop vaccing.

HoneyLuna- You can sleep in it if you want. It would be GREAT place during a tornado or hurricane.

N2- Good for YOU! Why do we hold on to shit we know we won't use? I do it all the damn time.

Kathleen Scot- Nah. I have a rehearsal. Good idea, though!

Stephanie- Well. When I absolutely have to.

Rebecca- A girl should have a power washer for the basement if she wants one! That's what I say.

  15. I do love that staircase. I imagine it fitting for a southern belle to float down it on her wedding day. Very Gone With the Wind.
