Poem of the Day: Blackout

BY MARGARET FISHBACK
When life seems gray
And short of fizz
It seems that way
Because it is.

I can't even tell you how much I love that poem.

Not to change the subject or anything but here are the baby chickens enjoying their greens.

From top left you see Nora, Trinky, Tronky, Dearie, Nicey, and Hawk.

I'm having one of those days. Mr. Moon asked me if I have any plans for the day.
"No," I said. "Not really."
I lied.
My plan is stay alive if at all possible because surely things will be better soon.

How about you? Do you have a plan? I'd love to know.

Yours truly...Ms. Moon

  1. My plan is much the same, but on an airplane. I love that poem, a touch of Ogden Nash. Much love to you.

  2. Making it through the day is a good plan. Forget about the parts of life that suck and remember to do or at least think about things or people that make me happy. It's not always easy.

  3. I am so, so tired. I want to stare at the wall.

    I love that poem too.

  4. Please follow your plan. Breath by breath you will get through this day. I love you. Here's my hand.

  5. Today I got out of the house for the first time in four days, only to find out that the hair appointment I had is for tomorrow. My first thought was, 'damn! I have to do this again tomorrow?' The upside is that I just got a text from my soon-to-be 20 year old granddaughter that she wants to come by and hang out with me. I figured that maybe I'm not a total loser if she wants to hang out. Maybe....

  6. Focus on getting through the day must be a little easier when you have those dear little chicks to look at.

  8. My plan is similar: to make it to quitting time so I can go home and finish my book. That pic of the chicks is beautiful.

  9. My lunch and grocery shopping plans were just cancelled so I'm doing nothing much. What happened to Hawks yellow patch? Or have I got the wrong chicken? I hope August visits you today.

  10. I'm going to the doctor's today to have the two stents taken out of my nose that I have had to wear for a week - after a three hour long operation to clean out and repair my sinus's which made me sick with infection for 9 months (that, duh, nobody could figure out) and also had a deviated septum repaired. Agony. I expect today to be full of agony and lots of blood....And then I'll probably go to Starbucks if I can stench the flow and stay upright. Or I'll just pass out.
    Looking forward to tomorrow.

  12. Breathe, send online petitions to legislators, meditate, care for old and chronically ill cat, put air in wheelchair tires, do yoga and sleep after food shopping, paying bills and talking to vet...
