Friday Night Front Porch

Martini Time. How darling is this man?

The charm which protects us which was sent to me from my friend K. when he was in Turkey. She hangs over the front door. So far it's working lovely. Knock wood and every other sort of superstitious gee dee bullshit. I love it.

A queen banana spider. She is living and has vanquished two others who attempted to live in her space.
We shall chart her progress as summer unfolds.

The collards are cooking as are the chicken and vegetables. I do not make the traditional southern chicken and dumplings which are basically (to my mind) chicken and broth and rather gooey noodles. My chicken and dumplings have chicken, celery, onions, garlic, green beans, carrots and mushrooms. And big puffy dumplings.

The more vegetables the better. The puffier the better.
And that's all I'm sayin'.

  3. We used to eaT all manner of southern food until C.'s heart attack. Now we are really careful. But those dumplings sound really good. Maybe some chicken and rice soup is in order here.

  6. Syd- I hope you make mine!

Akannie- I'm with you on the buttermilk, don't go as far as the bacon drippings, though. I want to get my cholesterol directly through the eating of the bacon itself.

Ms. Bastard-Beloved- Ah. Me too, love.
