Bitch, Bitch, Bitch

I went shopping. It was a little bit of hell. I lost my car in the TJ Maxx parking lot. I'm not even kidding you. So I walked over to the Starbucks and got a cup of coffee and wandered around until I found it. I should be ashamed to admit that there are only about four aisles of parking in that lot. They're building a Trader Joe's there and I do not know how that's going to work with such limited parking but whatever. It's on the rich side of town and all of the women, even the old ones, are skinny over there. I sort of hated all of them.
I didn't find my dream dress at TJ Maxx or even my dream anything but I did get a coffee cup because I broke my favorite one yesterday. It's pretty. Blue and white.

I stopped by this other place that has a very limited amount of clothing and I like that because you can get in and get out, any decisions are short and sweet.
I got a dress there.
It's not actually wedding apparel but I think I can make it work.
And it's really comfortable. So. Done. Sort of.

I also stopped by the Goodwill and went through five thousand (approximately) pairs of jeans. I bought a pair for $2.77. Hey. They fit. Sort of. Mondays at our Goodwills are half-off-clothing day. That place was packed.

Somehow this all took me five hours. I went to a few other places too. I returned a pair of shoes to Shoe Station. The girl said, "Is there a problem with them?" I said, "No. I just realized that when I bought them I'd lost my mind. This happens frequently to me these days."
I did not lose my car there.

I'm feeling lowdown. Don't know why exactly. But it happens. It's supposed to get cold again here. Down in the thirties. Maybe another freeze. I shouldn't complain. I know that some of you live in places where spring is nothing but a faint, faint hope. But as I always point out, I live in Florida for a reason. Okay, a lot of reasons but one of the main ones is that I don't like cold weather.

Well, eventually the cold weather will pass and we'll be dying of the heat. I'll complain about that, too. You can bet on it.

Yours truly...Ms. Moon

  1. Probably dreading the wedding stuff. Nothing gets me more in a tizzy than a damn wedding.

  2. Dear darling Mary-your okra is still sitting on the counter-it's so pretty and every time I look at it, I think about you and Florida and your family and your gardens and how we're friends even tho we live 3000 miles apart and how I GET you in some important ways. Having said all that, I would only add that your crazy and your sane are the diastole and systole of life, all of it. I for one, am damn grateful you write here.

    Your fan,

    Beth

  3. We've all been a bit "off" here on this end too. I hope the wind blows in a different direction for us all.

    Sending warm breezes.

  5. If not for my car alarm, I would never find mine in a parking lot. Also the reason I have a window decal on it, not only is it clever, but it is also a necessity.

Goodwill and TJ Maxx rock, and I look forward to your bitching about the Florida humidity come June. I live on the SC/GA border and I still can't handle the FL heat...

  6. I'm so glad that I don't know anyone having a wedding. I was invited to a formal benefit the other night that I really should have gone to, since I work for the company (!), but I just couldn't do it -- couldn't pack my body into some dress and heels and the whole she-bang.

  7. There are few things in life as satisfying as a good bargain at a Goodwill. I've never had much luck with pants there, though. I think my legs are too long.

Glad you got the dress "sorted," as they say in England. You knew I was going to ask whether you could wear the nunnightdress. You fended off that question right away. :)

  8. I have an app that I downloaded called Take Me to My Car--LOL, I once could not remember where I parked my car at the airport so I walked for a long time until I found it. Never again--so I have this little app as a back up in case I have another brain fart. It used GPS to get you within a few feet of your car. I can deal with that.

  10. I have been in that floating, sort of stunned space I imagine you might be in now. (I've done my share of wondering aimlessly through stores and parking lots). It usually comes after pain. Anyway. I sense there is little I could tell you that you don't know but I do hope your lowdown train chugs off soon. I hope the sun comes out and puffs it away. Florida dwellers should not have to deal with cold, that is just written in the fabric of space and time.
