I'm Sad. And Pissed.

Maine did not vote to allow gay marriage.

Why are we people so damn crazy about this issue?

I've written many words about what I think and if you have the slightest need to read any of them, just do a blog search with the words "gay rights" and/or "gay marriage in them."

Meanwhile, I'm just sitting here fuming, tapping my fingers and waiting for us, as a nation, to grow up and quit hiding behind fear and religion to rationalize the rights of every citizen to be legally married to the person they love.

  2. Double Amen, sister! I was hopeful Maine would be different. The other side used the same lies they used here in CA. Damn those fucking liars. Ooohh, that felt good. I try to keep it PG-rated on my own blog but it feels good to call them goddamn fucking liars. Bastards!!!

It will happen. I have faith. Love and acceptance will win out over fear and hatred. It will.

  5. It's coming, Ms. Moon - it has to. It's horrible that it's not sorted yet, but it's only a matter of time. All the European countries are doing it, one at a time. You'll follow. I'm sure.

  6. I have to think that the train has started and that it will happen eventually. I have to believe that. I think of the many civil rights issues that our country has faced --- once started, there IS no going back.

  7. Thanks Ms Moon. We are devastated here.I am fighting tears all day here as are my two wonderful male friends next door. They are a wonderful match and set high hopes on this. Of course I come from a generation where you were thrown out of school ( college) just for being gay and labelled as socially unfit.

  8. What kills me is the juxtaposition of the nay sayers having this attitude of narcissistic entitlement for themselves and yet when it comes to someone who is different from them in ANY way the attitude is that of demonization ... how can they all miss this??

  12. All those deleted comments are me, btw. Not an angry poster who chickened out ;) Just me, so eager to figure out what in the hell is wrong with us, posted it three times.

  13. I will never understand people who are so opposed to gay rights. They should just be rights. Not gay. Not straight. Not white. Not black. Just the rights we are afforded when we are born.

  14. actually it shouldnt be about gay rights but about equality..about that every one should have equal rights...to be honest i dont believe in age, gender, sexual orientation and all that stuff...

  15. A friend and I were just discussing this. Love is love is love is love, and celebrating it with marriage should be an option for everyone.

  16. A vote against gay marriage is really a vote for unhappy, frustrated, disfunctional marriage, isn't it?

  17. Yes. Equal rights for all.
But that requires the abolition of fear.

    It may take a while

  18. Thank you Ms Moon. I woke up this morning, turned on the news and felt a great let down. I just keep thinking about your blog about the drug-addict woman who has given birth to 10 drug addicted babies. The sad thing is she has more civil rights than I do. Heaven forbid we consider forcing sterilization on her but it's perfectly okay to dictate who I can/cannot marry. Oh yes, us homosexuals are definitely going to be the downfall to our society!

  19. At some point this will go the route of civil rights, but we aren't there yet. You cannot allow public opinion to rule, because the public needs to be pulled into doing the right thing kicking and screaming. Then a few years down the road, most people forget how much it bothered them and it is just how it is. Leadership and a big set of cojones is necessary though. I don't see either anywhere in sight. Not now.

  20. There are few things that piss me off more than this issue. Is all men created equal in this nation or not?

This is the business of two consenting adults--not the damn government and not the busy-body religious nutjobs.

It's just an excuse to make a very large group of people feel less than.

In my mind it's a Civil Rights issue, same as discriminating on the basis of race.

  21. Bethany- Some days it sure feels that way.

Grasshopper- It will. Eventually. But it's so hard to be tolerant of the hate and lies until then.

Randi- That's all it is. Human rights.

    Danielle- Exactly!

Ginger- So simple. So true. Why must it get so fucked up?

    Jo- One would think so.

    Michelle- I know.

Mel's Way- I thought homosexuals already WERE the downfall of our society! I mean, every thing has gone down hill since Ellen and Rosie came out, right?

Sandra- I completely agree with you. Time for federal action on this one. Get it done!

Ms. Bastard- I could not have said it better, my dear.
