Why Does Anyone Live In Florida?

Dottie's for sure broody and I took Miss Liola some green beans and pickles but no one answered her door so I left them on the stoop and I had to backtrack on my usual route because a pack of dogs appeared, some of them pit bulls and you can say what you want about how sweet pitties are and I know because I used to have some but you can also say what you want about how they can tear you up and I know because I used to have some so I turned around and went another way and it's so fucking hot and so fucking humid and when I ducked into the woods to pee a million mosquitoes attacked me and well...
I'm miserable.

That is all.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. Come on over. It's going to be 67 degrees and sunny. I've got some lemonade and fancypants cheese and a baguette. We'll sit on the deck and watch the Animal Parade. ❤️

  2. May i join you and Rebecca at the animal parade? My quibble today is not heat, but concrete. Hugs.

    1. Absolutely! Let's have a no-bra, no-concrete day!

  3. I'm a huge dog lover, but I draw the lines at pits. If I don't know them I don't interact with them.
Here in The Land of Lincoln (and imprisoned governors and no State budget) it's been hot and humid. Today I smell the scent of oncoming rain and the skies are darkening....I LOVE storms!

    1. I love storms too. When we don't get our afternoon rain we suffer.

  4. Good Morning, (still morning here),
Welcome home, I was worried about ya, I read that Cindy was going to drench your home. Glad to see it didn't wash you away.
We will get up to 100 today, (South Bay San Francisco), I know about the heat. No AC, nights are interesting when it is so hot during the day and our upstairs bedroom saves all the heat for us. We get a break on the humidity but that's it.
    :)

    1. That sounds horrible! Just awful.
Thanks for worrying but I think Cindy's heading to Texas. I hope they'll all be okay over there.
      Try and stay cool.

  5. It's way too hot here and I have a bug infestation of biblical
proportions and a large tree has turned completely brown in
the space four days, so things are feeling apocalyptic, but
I'm so glad not to encounter a pack of pit bulls.

    1. Well at least I could turn around before the dogs got interested in me. What do you suppose killed that tree? Or is killing it, anyway.
      What kind of bugs?

  6. the thing about pits is unless they are yours you just don't know if they are going to be sweet lugs like my daughter's pit bull or if they are going to attack because that what their owner taught them. I've started carrying an old mop handle with me when I walk Minnie. so far a loud and stern 'no' repeated over and over has deterred the dogs we encounter but you never know.

    1. I've raised pits to be as gentle as can be and thought they were until they turned into killing machines, bent on murdering each other or killing a kitten. Add that to a pack mentality of dogs on the loose together and I will do my best to avoid them.

  7. After my husband died , shortly after we had just returned to the US from Argentina, I realized that I was not going to manage a big house on an acre of land in Upstate NY where my first winter alone was spent snowed in with kind neighbors plowing my driveway.
    Florida never looked so good.
I decided that I had to live somewhere that I was not at the mercy of the weather and here I am, in Florida, where I am terrified of hurricanes LOL
I will probably be moving back to NY.

My husbands nephew bought the biggest "Staffordshire Terrier" (pit bull) that I have ever seen. Massive head .. scary and impossibly dangerous if he got mad.
I avoid him, the nephew is never invited to visit me, I have cats , better known as
    snacks ...
I know they are just dogs and there are probably more good gentle ones than bad, but I don't believe in taking that sort of risk ... I avoid them at all times.
