A Good Reason To Clean The Toilet

So last night I had just turned the light out and was snuggling down into the bed and all of a sudden a wave of nausea came over me. The overwhelming kind. The kind where you can lie there and just breathe and hope it will pass but you know it won't so I got up and made my way to my bathroom and knelt and puked. I mean, just do it. Get it over with. You can lie there and debate the matter with the gods and insist that there is NO REASON this could possibly be happening but really, that's just a waste of time and once you puke, you're usually fine which I was but while I was still in the kneeling position, sort of evaluating the situation, the  seat fell and smacked me right above the nose and it hurt like hell and I thought, "Well. Really?"
But yes, really. The toilet seats in this house do have a tendency to want to go back to the lady-sitting position which has never bothered me before except when I was cleaning the toilets but I now realize why this is a very, very bad thing in a toilet seat.
Take note and pay attention next time you buy a new toilet.

Anyway, I sat there a second more, a bit baffled and shocked and then I got up and gargled and went into Mr. Moon's bathroom where he was brushing his teeth in preparation for bed.
"I'm having a sort of hard time," I told him. He looked at me and the cut over my nose was now bleeding and there was also another tiny cut over my lip (that sucker really hit me hard) and I explained what had happened which sounded completely absurd- I had to puke and then the toilet seat fell and hit my face- and he Poor-Baby-ed-Me and he got me an ice bag and I went to bed and slept okay but my stomach still feels a little queasy this morning and I look like someone punched me although not too hard. My nose isn't horribly swollen and I don't have black eyes or anything and I can breathe fine.

I'm beginning to wonder if Owen didn't have something besides Strep because he puked one night too and yes, I know that Strep can bring on the pukes but I was feeling so puny last week and now this.

Lord.

Well.

It's Monday and I'm getting the boys for a few hours this afternoon and I need to go pick up my natural hormone replacement stuff and maybe take Mr. Moon out to the car rental place and pick up my boys and so I have to pull it together here. I'm sipping a smoothie and waiting to see what's going to happen.

This is the beginning of my birthday month and I'm really not happy with the way it's going so far.

I will say though, that while I was in the midst of the puking and getting smacked down by a toilet seat last night I was very grateful that I'd recently scrubbed the toilets. Really. I was literally thinking, "Such nice white porcelain." So there is that.

Much love...Ms. Moon

  1. Oh no, that is terrible Ms. Moon! Talk about adding insult to injury. Well I hope you aren't getting sick and that your nose heals quickly and the rest of your day gets a little better. ((Hugs))

  2. Oh, dear Lord. You just couldn't have made that story up. I'm so sorry and hope that the nausea has passed.

  3. Only you could make puking an adventure... and a sort of pitiful funny one at that.

I hope ALL of you are back to healthy real soon. Sending you good belly wishes from the west.

  4. This is the kind of thing that happens to me frequently - strange injuries no one else could even think up. Puking sucks, and being accosted by your toilet seat at the same time is just wrong. Hope you are feeling better now.

  5. Gosh, i hope you feel better. Nausea and vomiting are hideous. (Talk about stating the obvious. My husband tells me i do this often, and it makes him smile.). :). Maybe you ate something your body didn'like and you're (mostly) rid of it now?

Try to enjoy your time with your boys, and sorry you got knocked by your toilet seat..

  6. Oh no! I hate getting sick. And insult to injury indeed. I hope you feel better!

This reminds me of Danielle, who does not use public conveniences, having to get sick in a restaurant toilet, and thanking god, on his knees as he retched, that the toilet was shiny lemon fresh!

  7. Ms. Fleur- It was sort of hysterical. Even in the midst of it, I could see the humor.

Elizabeth- I know! I was thinking about how people, when they've been hit by someone say, "Oh, I ran into a door," and how no one ever says, "I got smacked in the face with a toilet seat." Okay. I just made myself laugh. But it's true. Another true thing is that I HAVE run into a door before.

Kelly- Sorry- I am all out of order here. Anyway, I seem to feel pretty okay today.

Mel- It did seem to be a bit over-the-top.

Mary- I have no idea why I puked but I did eat some leftover pasta for lunch that Mr. Moon did not eat so it could have been that.

Jo- In this case, it was more of a matter of adding injury to insult. Too bad my toilet wasn't lemony fresh. That would have been even nicer than merely clean.

  9. Oh man, sorry about your nose. That must have smarted! I have a cold of sorts that has made me feel pretty tired and with a sore throat over the last few days. It sucks and I have no idea where I picked it up. Oh well.... take care of your nose.

  10. Yikes! Now I see why you were talking about your stomach and nose in the top post. (I guess I really need to read your posts in the order of posting.) Anyway, glad you're feeling better and there is no evidence of strep.
