  2. He was a true artist -- the one who gave the Beatles their edge, the one who brought a measure of darkness to the group, and then brought joy to his own solo music just before his death. What would the world be like if he had lived? Would it be different? Music, at least, surely would be.

  3. I fell in love with the Beatles at age 11 and still am 55 years later! Was thrilled when I learned I was born on the same day as my favorite, John. I have a pin with John's photo from a gum machine around 1965 which I still proudly wear on my birthday every year. I believe millions of fans ponder Steve's question and I wish we had the answer.
