The One Thousandth Birthday Party I've Given

Oh god. I am exhausted.
Mr. Moon is coaching T-Ball and theoretically, I am getting ready to go to the beach with the young'uns.
Theoretically because I'm barely moving.
Last night's little birthday supper turned into a party with everyone here but May who had to work. I got about four pictures. Here is one.

I didn't even get a picture of the beautiful berry pavlova I made! Nor of Gibson helping Jessie open presents. And somehow, I do believe I may have had one martini too many.

Oh well. Everyone got fed, presents were opened, the pavlova did arrive on the table with candles, Jessie did blow them out, and I am still "theoretically" getting ready to go to the beach.

Here's another picture.

It would appear that festivity abounded.

Where the fuck is my bathing suit?

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. Oh Ms Moon. I love you. I feel like I sound like a broken record but I will say it anyway - thank you for letting us come to your family celebrations. It means a lot. Have fun at the beach.

  2. It's hard to find your bathing suit when you've had one too many martinis. This might be the day for burying the boys up to their necks in the sand. : )

Thanks for sharing your beautiful party. xo

  3. Oh, dear - that one drink too many is a real motivation killer the next day ... but the fresh beach air should help that.

  4. I want to come to one of your dinners, I so do. Not as much the beach, though, I dear the sharks and bobcats!

  5. The beach! How long do you have to drive to get there?

  6. Looked like fun or all!

About that Pavlova...I was thinking the other day that it would be fantastic if you just had a tiny secondary blog - like side by side with this blog where you just showed pictures of all the things you cooked and ate. Like the chicken, the greens, the biscuits and breads, pies and cookies and casseroles. Then there's the catfish and venison and fruit salads and sweet potatoes and all the amazing vegetables from your garden. --- And the soups, omg the soups! I want to look into a steaming bowl of your soup. I'm always trying to enlarge the picture and see what's on the plate.

A somewhat unreasonable request, I know, but think about it ... what fun that would be...well, for me at least!

And now I'm laughing my ass off..as up comes a cavalcade of pictures of food when I click on the "I'm not a robot" thing. It's got sandwiches and cakes today...geez

  7. That was meant to be fear, not dear. I should have said, I love Lily's hair! And she looks about 14 in this photo. And so like Owen!

  10. Poor May! She is always working, is she not?! Looks like a fun night, though, and I'm sure the martini was a vital component at the time. :)

  11. Nothing like a good party. Well, maybe except the next day.

  12. Jill- It is my pleasure! And so was the beach.

Denise- I found it. It was right where it was supposed to be. Surprise!

jenny_o- I felt WAY better yesterday than I had any right to feel. Those prayers to Bacchus really work out.

Jo- Aw, no worries about the sharks and bobcats. It's far more dangerous just driving down there than it is being there.
And here's something funny- Lily had just told me that she hated that picture of her when I got your comment. I read it to her and we laughed.

Beth Coyote- I still have freaking bikinis in my bathing suit drawer. Do you think it's time for me to throw those away now?

    Angella- As do you!

Steve Reed- I know. May works way too hard. And you are totally correct about the martini!

Syd- The next day turned out to be spectacular!
