Update

Because I know you care.

Maurice is eating. All she wants to do is run outside but I'm keeping her in and quiet. I took a good walk. My troubles sort of poured off me with the sweat.

Tomorrow night we are going to have a little belated birthday for May and I'm going to get some of the cooking and baking done today because the boys are coming tomorrow and I am actually excited about the prospect of chopping and mixing and stirring.

I am going to make Macha Sauce and maybe even...ceviche.
Golly. Am I homesick for Mexico or what? I had to laugh the other night when Mr. Moon asked me if we had any chips and salsa.
But I'm not kidding you. I wish I had some right now.

And May wants an apple cake with caramel icing.
I do love making my hippie apple cake- a dessert which delighted so many stoned hippies back in the munchy days. And delicious even if you're not stoned.

And guess what? I canceled my dentist appointment. I feel guilty and blissful at the same time.

I believe I am calling off the cliff-jumping event for now. But let's all still feel free to hold hands which, as Mel pointed out, is always a good idea.

  2. You are a great mama. Those critters have their own agenda. I am so sorry she is in pain and so glad she is eating now. As I am glad you cancelled your dentist's appt. After all, you were just being an outstanding mama to Maurice! And yourself and pretty May. Sweet Jo

  3. I would jump off a cliff with you if there were deep turquoise water to cradle us below, but otherwise I'd hold your hand and coax you back to the plains. I'm glad you got there on your own. Poor Maurice. It is very clear to me that cat has wrapped herself around your heart. xo

  5. Ain't for city gals- I've heard very good things about that book.

Sweet Jo- I've been to the dentist more in the last six months than I've ever been in my life. Let it be, right?

I'm trying to be a good kitty mama.

Angella- I just feel like the biggest SUCKER on earth, having been taken in by this cat I've taken in. Lord. I like the visual of you and me jumping into turquoise water. I like it a lot!

SJ- Twins in a mysteriously communicable parallel universe? It does get a bit woo-woo at time with us, doesn't it?

  6. Maurice is a doll and I'm so glad she found y'all.

When my puppy was 5 months old I took her to get spayed and it was one of the worst experiences of my life and hers - she had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and was tormented. But she did recover. As they seem to do.

  7. Well, this is good news. And for the record -- in answer to your last question/response to my last comment -- whoever gets to be seduced by the cute hitchhiker is me.

  8. That apple cake sounds really good! Glad your day turned around and your throat didn't swell up from the yellow fly. (If there's one thing I do not miss from my Florida days, it's yellow flies. Yeesh.)

I'm also glad Maurice is feeling better. I'm sure she'll be fine.

  9. Well, kitties are resilient. She deigned to let you subject her to the operation but I'm thinking she's still in the running for "head of household". :)

    Anyway, thanks for the update...

  11. Oh that cake sounds good! Maybe you can post the recipe someday. You don't have to be a hippy, do you, to appreciate it? :)

  12. Glad that Maurice is doing well. Cats generally rebound so quickly after surgeries.
