Clitoria

Here's a picture I posted last year. I don't think I took it, though. I'll try to get some of my own pictures this week.
The clitoria is also referred to as the "cowpea" which I think is so wimpy and wrong.

  1. I will not have clitoria referred to as cow-pea because that just sounds wrong. It sort of does look like girly bits......Guess that's how it got its name?

  2. That's a clitorial flower alright. Pretty!

    Oh! Avatar women! Blue!!

  3. I love the little purplish blue hoo hoo! So fun!

Yes, I'm one of those freaks that finds the word vagina distasteful... and in fact i haven't found a name yet that I like, so it's "hoo hoo" for me.

  4. Petit fleur - ahem - not sure how hoo hoo is any less distasteful than vagina, but you've hit on one of my favourite pet peeves - what that flower looks like is not a vagina. It looks like a vulva. The outside bit. The vagina's on the inside! C'monnnn, women deserve a bit of anatomical accuracy in these enlightened days, no?

My daughter told me she wished her father and I would get a Vulva the other day, but I'm

    Oh dear. WV: notexcl

  7. Arg, what happened to the end of my comment, that looks terrible!

Ok, funny story, not horror story, my daughter said she wished we would get a Vulva, but she really mean VOLVO. It does sound like a good name for a car, doesn't it?

  10. Hee... Danielle grows a lady garden without even trying.

Normally we use the expression green fingers, but I wonder if something else could be applicable here... :D

  11. Rebecca- Yeah. I'm thinking.

    Jo- Ooooh... Love it.

Ms. Fleur- I like "hoo-hoo" but Jo is right- the clitoria is way more labial than vaginal. But "hoo-hoo" can sort of refer to the entire area. I think.

Jo- And Volvos are such SAFE cars. I've always wondered about that name.

N2- All of our splishin' and splashin' was done in the rain!

Elizabeth- Oh, honey. It's all right. It's the biological name. Clitoria ternatea.

    Syd- And sometimes romantically descriptive.

Danielle- You have your own clitoria! Just what every man needs.

Jo- We say green thumbs. Ha!

  12. Many a blossom is extremely sexy
(as many an artist, such as O'Keeffe----whose father was called Calyxtus? no wonder she painted flowers---has loved pointing out)or even downright lascivious, regardless of name. The sweet-smelling Naked Ladies should be blooming here soon. If I ever get another cat I might name it Calyxtus, poor thing....

  13. Jo,

    Yea, I stand corrected.

I am not a stickler for detail, but I do believe that hoo hoo refers to any part of the female genitalia in general... So, there is that. I just don't really differentiate. It's all vaginal to me. shudders!

    verify word: filepapp!

Also, Danielle, I LOVE the easy and exotic!! how funny!

  15. Yeah, I can see the resemblance.

Very beautiful flower though. I suppose one won't grow in our area. I'll have to check it out.

  16. A- Ah. Design is such that a good thing gets repeated. That's what I think. Ms. O'Keefe, crazy as she was, recognized that and made great art.

Nancy C- I am quite sure you are.
