And Oh Yes, Happy Fourth Of July

So what'd you expect from me? A flag?
Ha!
I like this picture AND it's red, white, and blue. And gold. That's patriotic, right?
And I made potato salad. Nothing says Fourth of July like potato salad.
And angels playing harps.
So I think I have it covered.

Have fun. Be safe. I want to see all ten fingers on every one of you tomorrow. Got it?
Friends don't let friends light firecrackers drunk.
Although why would you light firecrackers if you weren't drunk?

Well.
Do your best.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. We did our celebration yesterday at my mom and dads house. On the way home from my parents house I said, "It was a successful day, none of the kids blew off any of their pinkies"

  2. I don't know about this bright green, Mary. I'm just not sure. Blog change unsettles me.

Fireworks are illegal here, and since the Recession kicked in, none of the little gurrier kids in the estates around can afford to let them off continually through October and November anymore.

But! Our summer festival is nearly upon us, and will be bookended by fireworks this time, instead of just having one display. So that, is cool.

  3. I adore fireworks displays. Not the noisy backyard kinds, but the huge ones, the big-bang orgasmic glitter filling the sky. But to my daughter's senses, that is Apocalypse Now. I understand. So although I try every few years to show her what I see, mostly we skip all that. But perhaps I'll challenge myself to come up with an oil-free potato salad to adhere to my fat-free diet. And have a celebratory root beer.

wv: wanie. Yeah, kinda wanie. But that's okay.....

  4. Hey, Honey.

I just got caught up here at Moonland. I am so sorry. I will send even more love to you and Kathleen.

You know how you said that you wanted to read Garrison to the urgent care people? You bring that joy, that honesty, and that amazing gift of your words every day.

    Bless your heart.

  5. Been under it all week. I just caught up with the happenings of La Casa Luna. That was a full week indeed. You manage to pack a lot of living into a short amount of time and describe it so beautifully, so evocatively, so perfectly.

P.S. Cancer can kiss my ass.

  8. Great post.
You are such a natural writer.
I love the green, it seems like the pistatio from your kitchen? I love love love the photo, and the quote.

    Happy 4th to you too.
Susie's making brownies and I'm going to lick the bowl. I was out in the garden all day and am a bit sunburned. I'm worried that my cat isn't home yet.

Potato salad is the exact right perfect 4th of July food. I bet yours is fantastic.

  9. Elizabeth- Your picture inspired me.

    Rebecca- Yep. Exactly.

Jo- Oh honey. Change is good. Maybe I'll damp down the green a little. I just love that color.

A- Why are you fat-free? We need SOME fat, you know. I hope you got in a little fireworks joy.

Nancy C- And bless your heart, too, sugar pie.

    Lisa- Yeah. Fuck cancer.

Michelle- Sometimes one must rearrange the furniture and paint a wall or two. I love you so much.

SJ- I know you're there, sweet girl.

Bethany- Yes. It's a darker shade of the same green as my kitchen. I wish I had some brownie batter. Mmmm..
The potato salad was not bad.
