Happy, Happy Lagniappe

Look who came home! I was folding laundry and Mr. Moon called me from the garage. Yes. Called me because he's up to his elbows in deer processing.
"Maurice is back!" he said. "She ran out of garage and is in the yard!"

"Hurray!" I shouted and then I went to the kitchen door and called her and in just a moment she appeared, meowing and I let her in and fed her Boar's Head turkey meat (she'd prefer Oscar Mayer, I'm sure) and I am so relieved. I have no idea how she got trapped in the garage. There are the new doors which keep it closed up but yesterday it was opened up for hours.
What The Fuck, Maurice?
Maybe she was just having a mouse-eating orgy. Who knows? But she's home and I have to say that I really did not realize how much this peculiar little ginger girl means to me. I mean, I knew I loved her but I didn't know how much.

I'm sure that Jack is pissed that she's back.
Oh well. Deal with it, Big Guy.
The queen is home.

    1. I caught myself last night saying, "You bad girl!" and then immediately, "You sweet girl!" No wonder she's so confused.

    1. I really was surprised at how much I worried. I kept thinking about when I broke my ribs and how she slept with me on the chair and would come up and check on my breathing and kiss me on the lips. I mean- that's a lot.

  7. Mr Cat (dearly departed) but O I loved that guy. He disappeared for a week and came home covered in antifreeze, no doubt trapped in somebody's garage. Another time he was two-timing me, gone for a few days then drifting back until I caught him rolling around in front of a neighbor's house around the corner. Seems that they even named him "Gray" and were feeding him!!!! Stinker. I told them to stop that and sure enough, he came back to my house cuz he got hungry. Opportunists, those critters, especially the ones we adopt from the streets. They're survivalists all right.

    1. When Jack first showed up, he was going between our house and the Trumpsters next door. He finally settled on living here full time despite the fact that they gave him wet food AND brushed him. I think their many dogs frightened him. Or else he just didn't like their politics. Plus, they called him Hobo and we called him Jack which is a much classier name.

  8. Welcome home Maurice even though you were home all the time! "Deer processing"? I guess that's a euphemism. Similar to "at rest" or "at peace" which of course mean dead.

    1. "Deer processing" means, yeah, skinning, gutting, etc. All the things they have to do to animals before we eat them! It's disgusting but unless we're vegetarians or vegans we need to accept that that's how it is.

  9. Very glad she's home. I seem to have seen this found post first before knowing she was lost. Good, because I'd have worried helplessly if I'd read the lost one first! Cats are mysteries, you simply don't know what they're up to sometimes. She might have been quite close by, just lying doggo!

    1. Cats are indeed very mysterious. Their logic is beyond our comprehension. I think that's one of the reasons I like them so.

  10. Yay! What is it with cats and their tendency to become trapped in enclosed spaces? I guess their evolutionary behavior patterns haven't yet caught up with modern life!

    1. I guess. They feel safe in small places or in places where they're alone but sometimes that just doesn't work out very well. And then there are the ones that get caught up in the very tops of trees...

  11. What a relief! So glad Maurice made it back. Perhaps, secretly, Jack is happy, too. :)

    1. You know, Jack was actually looking rather contemplative the last few days while she was gone.

  12. Glad Maurice turned up. I've had Cats that often went off the Grid, some never returned and the not knowing was always so difficult. Boar's Head, my my she's a spoiled Kitty!

    1. She is a spoiled kitty but she likes cheap lunch meat the best. I'd love to know what her early life was like.
