Returning To Life

Today was glorious. I woke up in a cold room but so very snug and warm in my bed which is the way I like it. As I breathed, I could feel the cold on my face, delicious and crisp like the bite of a good, sweet apple, even as my body was so warm.
And I did not feel feverish in my joints or back and getting out of bed was not so hard and it's been that way all day.
I took eggs to my neighbors across the street. I walked to the post office. I took that picture on the way home. It's an amazingly huge, old oak tree and its branches span a quarter of an acre. The sky was cloudless and winter-only-blue. I hung clothes on the line and I cleaned out the nests in the hen house. While I worked, little Miss Violet clucked fiercely at me, telling me in no uncertain terms that she needed to get to the nest NOW to lay her egg and I finished up as quickly as possible so that she could have her safe privacy. I dumped the poopy hay in the garden and was going to use the cart to go pick up fallen branches in the front yard but decided that no, I didn't need to push it that far today.
And I didn't.

I am so grateful for this day that I've had. Everything has seemed such a pleasure. I made a cup of tea and put sugar and milk both in it and I could taste honeyed, hot flowers in it. Just the simple ability to sit and watch something on TV, knitting with my cat beside me without being in any sort of pain was a sort of joy. I have felt the wealth of my life truly and surely.

And to put the cherry right on top of the cowgirl, another one of Trump's best friends/advisors/all-around-evil-person was arrested and the government is opening back up without one cent being budgeted for a stinking wall.

I started to watch the documentary on Roger Stone today but just couldn't. What I can't figure out is how we have let these criminals run our country and bleed it dry. Not only have Stone and his compatriots been getting their own candidates elected, they've then been in a position to lobby them to enable and support the most horrible of dictators and rulers for whom they work, getting richer than Midas along the way.
God. It's been a great scam.

Well. Perhaps there is some hope that sanity and the actual will of the people can be restored to our government. I'm not betting on it, but at least there is a fragment of light to focus on and that's all we can possibly ask for when things have gotten to the place where we find ourselves.

I am so glad for all of the government workers who can get back to their jobs and who will receive their paychecks. Despite what ungodly rich Republican lawmakers seem to believe, grocery stores and doctors and banks and gas stations no longer have a system whereupon you can run a tab. And people have been suffering and our country has been too.

May there be an easing for all.

Happy Friday, y'all.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. Yay! Take that Chump Trump! He has finally had to back down though the way he tells it, he makes it sound like a victory. He wouldn't know what Truth was if it came and slapped him in the face like a wet codfish. Didn't he say "America First!"? Now look what he and his Republican chums are doing in Venezuela!

    1. I agree with you. I think that Trump has trampled the truth so many times that it's unrecognizable to him now. And I have no idea what he and his puppet masters think they're doing in Venezuela.
Once more, I will apologize for my country. I'm sure it won't be the last time.

  2. Oh, well, I just heard it here first. That's good news. And I'm so glad you're feeling better!

    1. Thank you, Jo! Of course Trump's only guaranteeing three weeks of reopening the government. He's a trash heap.

  3. A big step of improvement in your day today, I'm so happy to hear you are feeling better! And....a small step in government (in the big picture) but it's a step, and I'm cautiously optimistic. Leave it to D to try to *claim* it..... but we know that isn't it at all. People are pissed..... and more people need to get pissed. Im already there!

    1. I think a lot of people ARE pissed. Even Ann Coulter, the alien lizard, admits that he's a joke now.

  4. I think the shutdown is ending to take the focus off of the latest arrest. And I am sort of kidding and sort of not kidding. I'm excited to get back to work and am trying not to think about how it is possibly only for 3 weeks.

    1. I think you're right, Jill. He had to do something. Seriously.
As to the three week thing? Who knows? God, I hope someone can talk some sense into him before then but I am not sure it's even possible.

  6. My respect for Nancy Pelosi has skyrocketed through all this. She has said that with 5 children and scores of grandchildren she knows how to deal with tantrums! And Roger Stone getting arrested made my day yesterday morning! It was certainly a good news day, for once!

    1. Exactly!
Trump is a big fat toddler throwing himself on the floor if he can't get his way. I imagine that it's probably easier for Nancy to deal with him than it was for her to deal with her kids. She has no love for that man and no need to give in.

  7. it's appalling the comments those rich bastards were making about the ones struggling through the shut down. they have zero understanding of what life is like for the average American and even less compassion for the position rich bastards put them in. and of course Trump is already threatening to close the gov't again. it's all he knows how to do, threaten. I imagine LaGuardia closing put quite a bit of pressure on him and thank god for Nancy Pelosi. if she had caved and let him get away with it he'd be shutting down the gov't every time he wanted something.

I'm glad you are feeling better and were wise enough not to push your day, something I likely would have done, being so happy to feel good again.

    1. It is appalling. Appalling and shocking that the ruling segment of our government has no clue about what life is like for the rest of us. How can they possibly make laws that pertain to their constituents?
For once, I listened to my body. It told me what it wanted to do and then it told me what it didn't want to do. I obeyed.

  8. This post reminds me of the idea that without darkness we can't fully appreciate light, and how wise you are to get up from your lovely warm bed with all the consciousness of good in our world. Thank you for sharing it with us.

    1. I tell you what- it was such a sweet waking-up. I tried to recapture it this moment and couldn't so I'm glad I paid attention to what it felt like yesterday.

  9. I couldn't agree more about the government shutdown. Thank God that's over. I always get Roger Stone confused with Roger Ailes. They're both terrible people, I guess that's why (or they were, until Ailes died). I'm so glad you're feeling better and things in Lloyd are getting back to normal!

    1. Well, we hope it's over. Netflix does have a doc on Roger Stone. I might actually watch the whole thing eventually. But yeah, he and Ailes are two of a kind. Until Ailes died, of course. As you said.

  10. Good health is so easy to take for granted until we get sick and then it feels wonderful when good health returns.

I'm thankful that the government shut down is over. Perhaps they need to institute a better system that would continue government funding, even while politicians fight and have tantrums.

It's a gray day here. It's not cold but the gray skies make me want to sit on my ass. No doubt the dog will drag me out at some point:)

    1. This system does suck when a belligerent, boasting, baby of a president has the power to misuse.
I have a feeling that I'd think it was VERY cold where you are. And I would sit on my ass. Good for you for letting that dog drag you out.

  11. Would it not be glorious if this shut down was our rock bottom and recovery would begin and honesty would prevail. I have a friend who, a month ago, wished anyone but Nancy Pelosi be elected speaker, citing same old same old. And I said that woman must be elected, she knows how to get things done. And she was and does!

    1. PS--I believe in Nancy, but it will take more than my life time to unscrew this mess.

    2. It would indeed be glorious. I don't know that there's a chance in this world that honesty will prevail in this country's political system but we could sure do with a little less blatant lying.
      I'm pretty impressed with Nancy.
