Movie With Maurice

This has been the highlight of my day.
I was sitting on the couch watching Roma, a movie which is now streaming on Netflix and enjoying it very, very much. Maurice was snoozing beside me. Every now and then I would forget that she's not a normal cat and reach over to scratch her stomach whereupon she would remind me that she is not a normal cat by threatening to take my hand off at the wrist. Other than that, though, all was peaceful.
Until the most exciting part of the movie happened! There were ocean waves and children caught in a riptide and I'm not going to say any more because I don't want to ruin it for anyone but it was extremely dramatic!
And I looked over to see the formerly napping Maurice sitting up with her eyes focused entirely on the TV and I don't think she blinked until the scene was resolved at which point she laid back down and fell asleep again.

So, yeah. That was the big moment of my day.
I don't want to talk about it.

How are you?

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. So you recommend Roma then? Maurice certainly seemed riveted.

    1. I DO recommend it. I might watch it a second time because I'm sure I missed a lot of the beautiful subtlety. The lead, Yalitza Aparicio is absolutely amazing. The quiet presence she projects is stunning. Seriously. A fine film.

    1. I'm sort of glad that this cat can't speak. I'm pretty sure I would be horrified.

  3. My cat is the same. she will show you her belly but don't ever try to touch it. as for me, I'm moving past two unpleasant interactions.

    1. With Maurice it's not just her belly one must not touch. Even if she ASKS you to pet her, she will change her mind in a second.
I'm glad you're moving past the unpleasant interactions. Not always easy.

  4. "Roma" is Oscar-nominated. I must watch it soon...but not with a bad-tempered cat called Maurice. How am I? Fine.

    1. You should watch it. Well, if you want to.
Maurice is good company if you don't touch her.
I am glad to hear that you are fine.

  5. I saw my grandson for the first time yesterday. I went with his mama an ultrasound to check out his kidneys. His kidneys are fine, thank goodness, and I got to see all the parts of him, even his heart. It was amazing. And then the big guy and I went out for Greek food for supper. All in all, a good day.

    1. Yes. It is to their benefit that we do not realize the full extent of their powers in all regards.

  7. Oh Maurice. In spite of her best efforts to keep all at bay, we have grown to love her.

    1. And I am sure that she deeply cares that we love her.
      Deeply.
As deeply as she sticks her claws into my wrist.

  8. Oh, and how am I? Not bad considering I've been out of work for over a month because of the shutdown. I've taken to seeking volunteer opportunities so that I at least have something on my schedule each day. And I'm trying to not be consumed by my hatred for DT.

    1. What?! You're a federal employee? Damn!
Well, according to DT, you'll be getting your back pay soon, or, as quickly as possible.
      I'm glad of that.

  9. My neighbor is in week two of a lung-y thing. Next year a flu shot, says she. Get it now, says I. No, she'll wait to next year.

    1. I'm going to wait until next year too, seeing as I think I've already had the one this year.
Hope your neighbor gets better soon.
