Pictures And Other Stuff

I tried to get some pictures last night of that moon. Aren't we lucky to live on a planet with such a pretty moon? Yes. Yes we are. We live in a world of wonders and mysteries and the moon is up there, not caring at all and yet, paying witness to everything.
Anthropomorphism much?
I read an article in an older New Yorker last night and boy, did it blow my little mind. It was in the December 19 and 26, 2011 issue and it was entitled The Sanctuary and was written by Elif Batuman and honey, if you get a chance, read it. There's a little blurb here.
Whoa!
Humans were healthier and bigger when they were hunter-gatherers? Really?
Plus, a whole bunch of other very, very interesting information and ideas and theories.

Anyway, on to more mundane shit.

This is what my yard looks like this morning:

Landscaping by chain-saw, y'all! That picture really doesn't do it justice. I have a feeling that Owen is going to say, "What heck?!"

So are the chickens.

Here's the sun shining through the magnolia:

And here's a squirrel:

Now, speaking of pictures, my son Hank has an excellent site where he posts pictures and captions them and I suggest you go visit. If you aren't already a fan, you will be soon.

Click on the picture to go there.

Much Monday Love...Ms. Moon

  1. That looks like some good chain saw work. And hurricane season hasn't started yet.

Hank is talented. You are talented. The apple didn't fall far from the tree.

  2. Good morning Ms. Moon. You've tickled me this morning with Owen stories. First reading that he "lost his shit" yesterday when he wanted his chicken nuggets - I love the statement "lost his/her shit". And now explaining that Owen will probably say "What Heck". I don't know why, but just somehow the way you describe that little boy makes me smile.

  3. I read that same article. Mind blown. Dogs were bigger then, too, I'll bet.
I tried to take a photo of the moon last night too. I would have missed the whole thing if I hadn't heard an owl calling. I went out to look for the owl...and whoa, HELLO moon!

  4. Good morning. Happy Monday. Thanks for the link to Hank, I had a blast reading his captions, so clever and funny. And I saw a penis (or two?), which was quite a thrill.
    ;-)
    Love you!

  5. Your hens and Elvis are seeing plenty of work for them to do with all the cuttings. Oh and of course Mr. Moon will have more chain-sawing to do and loading it up to take away. Looks like someone will need a back rub tonight.....

Ahhh.....the moon was lovely last night. My Love went out to take some photos as well....

  6. Syd- Hank is amazing. So is Mr. Moon. So are YOU! WE'RE ALL AMAZING!

Jill- He totally took the trees down in stride. All he saw was the tractor. And then he had to get on it.

Denise- You have another chance tonight at that moon. Wasn't that article just more than you could take-in? It was for me. Jesus.

Bethany- Nothing wrong with seeing a penis now and then. Hee-hee.

Ellen- Mr. Moon is probably going to be out of town tonight. He'll have to suffice with the ibuprofen. Poor baby.
