What A Day, Part One

I had a hard time getting to sleep last night. Perhaps because suddenly Victoria Ambrose made her character known to me yesterday as I lolled about in the tub and now all of a sudden, I'm not sure about costumage and I was worrying about that and the sorry state of my house and it was late by the time I got to bed anyway. Rehearsal ran late and when I got home, Mr. Moon was out in the garage gutting and skinning two deers. Yes, two and thank-you, there will be meat in the freezer!
But mainly I had a hard time getting to sleep because it was so cozy in the bed I didn't want to let that feeling go, that freezing air coming through the window and the perfect warmth under the covers. Ah. Sigh.
And when I did get to sleep, I was awoken by the fact that the electricity was off and then it came back on and so I got up and found my watch and set the clock again and then it went off again and oh well...
When I got up it was still off so I stumbled into the kitchen and made what we call cowboy coffee which is coffee in the old percolator which takes an hour but that was okay because one of the dogs had had diarrhea all night long and I had to clean that up and all the while I was fretting because the house was going to be so cold and Owen was coming over.
I called our electric company's outage line (why do they need the last four numbers of your social security to tell you when the electricity should be back on?) and they said it would be on by 8:30 but I forgot to ask whether that was a.m. or p.m.
Finally the coffee was ready, Mr. Moon got up and we lit the gas fires in the dining room and the guest room so that there would be a warmish place for Owen and it was a joy when he got here, of course. The cold doesn't bother him and he nursed for a bit before his mama had to go to work and then he and I bundled up and went outside to see the chickens and walk to the post office and even though his little hands turned scarlet, he was happy.

And now Owen is awake and trying to eat the computer so I shall end here and say we are alive, we are, in fact, joyful, and here he is, practicing his anti-paparazzi moves for when he is rich and famous.

  3. Good, Owen fix! I wrote a comment about that last night before going to bed and it isn't here. Now it reads that there is no comment and in fact that are two. Who cares, really? Look at that face, just look at that face. I am off, Elinor and I are having our mani-pedi this morning and then I will comeback home and rest and look at his picture.

  4. That boy is the spitting image of his mother, isn't he? His eyes are just so remarkable!

  5. If I had a fireplace in my room like that, it would be hard to think of a reason to get out of bed. People could bring me my food and drink and perhaps a new book every now and again, and I would be pretty content.

The fireplace is so inviting. We got down in the fifties inside... we don't have the gas heaters anymore.

Again, I have to say, I HATE Progress Energy. They should be called CAVEMAN Energy! sheesh!

  20. I swear, I love you dearly, but those photos of Mr. Moon and Mr. Owen just get me...right...here. Is it something so trite as one so big and one so little? I don't care: they are just gorgeous together.
    Love,

  22. A wish....someday I would love to have a fireplace in my bedroom...how cozy that would be.

I really dislike power outages...I mean to have to change all the clocks in the house and then wait while it gets colder and colder..bbbbrrrrrr! Though I do like lighting all the candles if is dark when that happens..light the fire...and talk!

Your husband and so look so sweet...too cute!
