Inside and Out, Saturday, February 6, 2010, Lloyd, Florida

A bird's nest fern, wintering in our mudroom, with a stained glass my friend Lynn made.

Teeny, tiny begonia blossoms.

The camellias are going crazy.

The china berry tree which Mr. Moon would love to cut down but I won't let him because children love to climb it and the owls perch in it on summer nights and make their whistling call.

What chickens can do to collards.

My nice straight row where the spinach is hopefully germinating as we speak.

Herself. Miss Betty. In the chicken coop. With the other chickens.

Betty and Miss Red, her tail feathers growing back nicely.

Allegra's candle.

The buckeye is awake.

The pansies are cheerful.

The hen fruit is abundant.

This post is dedicated to my friend Sue who died magnificently on this date in 1995. I miss her every day.

  2. Here's to Sue and your friendship with her. I'm sure she would delight in these images just like we are.

I was so happy to see your birds nest fern. I have one too and it is my favorite plant. It makes me happy everyday. Love the leave shapes. Yours is so big and healthy. Love it with the stained glass.

Thanks for these happy, hopeful images.
I'm sorry you miss your friend.
You love people with all your heart, so it must have lots of hurting places where the loss is.
    Hugs.

  3. I wish I had known Sue more than I did. I do know that I love her because she is apart of you, and so she is apart of me too.

These spring photos sure make me happy. Love you, Mama!

  4. My candle! In Guad we trust! And you I love with all my heart.
Sue must be smiling, those who live in our heart never die, I do believe that and I know it to be true. I will share my candle with her today in honor of friendship.

  5. Rest in peace, Sue. Ms. Moon, your flowers are so beautiful. To tell you the truth, I had never paid much attention to the camellia bush that borders my yard with my neighbor, but every time I pass it now, blooming crazily, I think of you. And that's a good thought.

  6. Jo- At least it is on its way.

Bethany- I think I have sad places, not hurt so much. And those places also have joy in them because you know what? We're all going to die but pain and suffering are not welcome in my opinion and in death, there can be such sweet release.

HoneyLuna- You knew her as a baby. You sure did.
I wish you were here to enjoy these signs of spring.

Elizabeth- Ah! You have camellias! Take a picture and share, please.

  7. Oh, that stained glass in the first picture is absolutely beautiful. Love it.

And Miss Betty -- so happy so see her back with the flock.

And you will most definately wonder if I'm a stalker now -- I am writing a paper for my creativity class and it includes a good force and an evil force. You're blog must have been on my mind when I was mulling over names b/c I've named the good force BETTY and the evil one MME.

  14. You know my brain is bad with dates... but I did have a dream about Sue a few days ago and been meaning to tell you about it.

A bunch of us were at Bullwinkles and she showed up dressed to the 9s, hair permed and wearing a tiara. It was a great dream.
