Back On The MacBook

I was hanging sheets on the line today when I got a call from from the Computer Doctor place to tell me that my MacBook was ready to be picked up.
"OH!" I trilled. "You just made my day!"
"Uh, well, okay," said the guy.

I already had an errand planned for just a few blocks away from the repair place and I had thought how wonderful it would be if I could combine that errand with picking up my s-typing beloved almost-like-a-child-to-me laptop but had had little hope that this is how it would go and so when that's exactly how it turned out, I felt like a child promised a trip to Disney World by a rich uncle she'd never heard of. Or something like that.

And so I ran my errands and went to Joanne's Fabrics to get some material for Maggie a dress
and then I saw this:

I was forced by the universe to purchase three yards of it. What I am going to do with it I do not know but how could I leave it in the store?

Maggie's material looks like this-

Purple! Butterflies! Sparkles!
Ooh boy. And if August wants a dress of it, I'll make him one too.

Speaking of the boy, Lis got to visit with Jessie and the boys today.

She and Lon are in North Carolina right now, playing festivals and a wedding and enjoying the relative coolness. I'm so glad she got to see her fairy goddaughter and the boys. I know that Jessie was thrilled about that. I so wish I could have been there too.

But instead I was driving around Tallahassee, buying stuff. I've said this before but I'll say it again- I am not bipolar but on a rare day I find myself in a very fine mood wanting to shop. So besides the fabric I also went next door to Tuesday Morning and got a wooden recorder for the children to play and a new Kantha cloth to put on my bed because it's just so pretty. While I was shopping there I heard a woman wearing a big old honking cross around her neck say, "Oh, shit!"
That made me smile.

So it's Friday. The stock market is tanking. Trumpsteak has commanded everyone to stop doing business with China. The Amazon is on fire. RBG has a tumor on her pancreas. We can probably survive all of that except the fire in the Amazon.
But here in Lloyd, Florida there will be clean sheets on the bed tonight and an eggplant parmesan made from our own eggplants. Mr. Moon is about to make us martinis and NASA has announced that they have named a rock on Mars after the Rolling Stones.

I don't even know what to say about any of it so I'll just say this-

Happy Friday, y'all.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. Oh, happy Friday Ms. Moon!

Okay, call me crazy, but I kind of hope that the economy is tanking. That will be the death knell for the Dump administration. It's a shame that it would take to that ensure he doesn't get re-elected, but money talks. As for our wannabe dictator trying to issue decrees....well FUCK HIM! Dementia must be setting in, he's becoming more and more incoherent.

And as to the Queen, RBG...she's one of my heroes. She's going to beat cancer again and stay in her spot long enough to see Dump ousted. Then I hope she'll enjoy a well-earned retirement!

I can't wait to tell Gregg about the rock named after The Rolling Stones. He's almost as big a fan as you, Mary. :)

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

    1. Sad to say, I had the same thought about the economy today.

    3. Well- here's part of the problem as I see it- a huge number of his base don't have money in the stock market. They see the market as something out-there. Alien. Not important in their lives. Which of course it's important in the economic life of all of us, at some point or another. They'll see it as just another sign that "the elite" are falling. Falling and failing. Which is completely ironic in that Trump's big money supporters are of course the most wealthy.

  2. Omg......so much to take in! Love the Frieda Kahlo fabric.....something special must be in store for that one....it's gorgeous (so is butterfly fabric) Glad Lis got to visit with her *gods*...... whatever happens in the world being cause by DT is fine with me....as long as it seals the deal at election time......as in OUT of HERE! RBG will probably overcome this too....she's got to achieve her goal of outlasting DT...... and the rock on Mars........ our neighbors just went to see the RS in Pasadena last night (rescheduled from April) and I can't wait to hear about it when they get back home. Happy dinner and happy Moon Martini. I lift my glass to you . ;-)

    2. I understand what you mean, Susan. If the man's going to dig such huge holes, let him fall in one. But I wish it wasn't such an either/or proposition. I hope your neighbors enjoyed the concert!

  3. Welcome back to your computer, where you do not read the BIG news on a little screen.
Maggie's pastels suit her well, but the strong colors from Mexico! Mucho gusto. Excuse the masculine from what I remember of high school Spanish. I like the fabrico.

    1. I know, Joanne! I do love that fabric. I might just make myself a dress out of it.

  4. I read about RBG. Pancreatic cancer sucks. I had a young patient with it today, I think he was only 36.

The fabric is lovely, both of them. Maybe I'll try sewing something for my grandson. It's not the same as a dress though, that would be fun.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    1. I had forgotten that RBG had pancreatic cancer to begin with. The number of long-time survivors of that are rare. As you know.
You could do like me and just sew your grandson a dress anyway. I guess you should wait until he asks for one, though. How about some cute little overalls?

  8. Glad you got your s’s back!
That Frieda Kahlo fabric is fabulous ~ maybe a wall hanging for one of your porches?
Lis and your grand boys ~ what a divine day for all, including Mr. Potato Head!
“Oh shit” is such a one-size-fits-all phrase, even honking cross-wearers embrace it.
The Amazon, “The Lungs of the World”, on fire...incomprehensible.
    RBG, we need you.
and...now we know there is positive proof that The Rolling Stones Rock!!!

    1. It makes me SO happy to think of Lis hanging out with Jessie and her little boys. Of course August wanted her to read him books.
I love the part in the story about NASA naming that rock where they said it rolled farther than any other rock they've ever seen roll on Mars. Which was about three feet! Ha!

  10. A Rolling Stones rock on Mars. Brilliant. But eggplant parmesan is way more exciting. I wish I could come for dinner.

  11. I can't believe you aren't making Maggie's dress out of Frieda! I mean, the butterflies are nice and all but Frieda and Maggie!

and the wannabe emperor in the White House...thinks he can just buy Greenland, thinks he's the second coming, orders companies to stop doing business with China as if he has that power (and you know damn well he won't pull his manufacturing out), and thinks he can change the Constitution by executive order! so yeah, the stock market is tanking (because all he knows how to do is run things into the ground) and I selfishly chortle with glee because I don't own any stock having learned my lesson several crashes ago.

    1. Of course his shitty ties will still be made in China. He does think he's an emperor. The Chosen One. The King. The Constitution ReWriter!
He's such a fucking dickwad. I'm sure he's having a great time at the G7 right now.

  12. Yay! I'm glad you got your computer back. The Frida fabric is FABULOUS. (Nice alliteration, eh?) It's pretty surreal that anyone on planet Earth is naming a rock on Mars, isn't it? But I certainly approve of the name itself.

    1. Frida IS fabulous! Of course it's ridiculous for us to name things on Mars but then again, it's ridiculous for us to name things on earth, too. But it's the human way. Name it and claim it.

  13. The Frida fabric is wonderful and the sparkly butterflies are darling. I think Maggie could rock both fabrics. That child has such range. As for RBG, I’m praying for her full recovery. We need her.
