Things I Did Today

Woke up to the sweetest note from my husband which made me feel loved and appreciated.

Let chickens out. Fed them. Got them fresh water.

Went for a walk.
Almost died.
Did not.

On the way home I stopped at the post office where a HUGE box was waiting for me filled with mangoes from Roseland! What?!
Yes!
I could barely carry it home. I opened it up and my kitchen was immediately filled with the scent of heaven.
I can't even tell you how much I love getting mangoes from Roseland. The man who rents us the perfect little guest house on the Sebastion River with the magical lion pool and where my childhood fantasies all become true sent them to me.
I love him. I simply love him.

Took a shower and groomed to the extent that they would allow me in town.
Went to town. Had lunch with Hank and Rachel and Rachel's mom. Fun and delicious. Our server was an almost preternaturally beautiful man.
So- all-around good time there.

Came home and wanted a nap but did not take one.
Instead, I ironed. Mr. Moon now has many, many ironed shirts from which to choose from. While I ironed I watched...REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK CITY!
It was amazing.

Started cooking some of those green beans with leftover Boston butt. Turned into soup. Sort of by accident and then by design.
And now I have an appallingly large potful of it.

Sigh.

And that's been my day. A good day. And I took that picture up there of the blooming pinecone lily. How can it already be time for pinecone lilies? This year is going by so fast that I can't believe it.

Also, I found this in town:

I do not know what it is but it may be some sort of beetle larva. Larvae? Whatever. It is huge. I carefully scooped it up on a CD cover and set it in the dirt under trees. I probably saved the life of some horrible invasive monster bug.

Oh well.

What did you do today? Was it as exciting as what I did?
I doubt it.
But tell me anyway.

Love...Ms. Moon (aka, Ms. Life In The Fast Lane)

  1. What did I do today? I mostly walked in circles with my whole body vibrating with nervousness. I've been offered a job after a 3 year search...and as soon as the personnel department gets in touch with me and lets me know what the salary will be, I will know if I can afford to accept it. I am so hopeful that my search is over finally! And although it's a longed - for life development, I'm still nervous about such a big change! I can't seem to settle down and relax! :)

    I had a feeling...
Oh, I hope the salary is decent. You deserve this!

  4. Oh, sigh. I spent much of it on the phone doing the usual paperwork/slogwork related to Sophie's caregiving. I also had lunch in Larchmont Village and shopped with my son Henry for his girlfriend's birthday present. I cleaned my room, organized my desk and put off working on my book. I feel a tad blue and am trying to rally.

    2. Oh Mary, so glad. I have a troubled relationship with my sister and we had a couple of very tense times. I had a friend with me and that made it better and not. You know what I mean?

  6. loved the account of your day! Much more exciting than mine...... I did have a wonderful 90 minute massage that was to die for........thank you Amanda! Scrubbed toilets, did hens chores......and cooked dinner for sweet hubby. Is this exciting? But
it was my day, a wonderful day, as was yours. No Pinecone lillies here, sadly. The deer are eating our tomatoes....... squirrels are eating everything else........ sad time in the garden, but that is the way things are

  8. traveled from Provo Utah to Twin Falls Idaho and then had a martini overlooking a giant hole in the ground. This part of Idaho is flat as Florida but there's a waterfall they call the Niagra Falls of the west. The water "fall" is created by the snake river. Going to see it today. Oh! and there are marmots in our campground!

    1. Ever since Glen and I got back from our little trip we keep asking each other if we can just get back in the car and go somewhere else. I have no idea why we think we can't.
The Niagra Falls of the West? Marmots?
What else am I missing? I need to travel more. Obviously.

  9. I'm sure you saw my FB comment, but I think that grub is a beetle larva. Sounds like you had a really good day! That box of mangoes sounds amazing. No wonder you dreamt about Roseland.

    1. Yep. Those mangoes triggered it all.
My sister-mother, Julia, suggested cicada grub. I think she is right.

  10. had my coffee, perused the internet, had my breakfast, started the new box in wax, had lunch while watching General Hospital, worked on the box model some more, went to yoga, fixed my cocktail, ate dinner, read my book on the couch til I fell asleep.

    1. Sounds about like mine with a few more interesting things thrown in. Art. Yoga. General Hospital. We're an exciting bunch, aren't we? About as exciting as I need to be though.
