The Saga Continues

Lon and Lis are sleeping in the Panther Room, Lily and Owen are upstairs in her old bedroom. It is lovely, it is quiet and I woke up feeling as normal and fine as I have felt in a long, long time.
It was a good night's sleep after a long, long day.

Lily worked until eleven and Owen entertained Lon and Lis and me until almost that time. I had him from four in the afternoon until his mama got here and he didn't take one nap but crawled and played and ate a vast array of foods including stuffed grape leaves, smoothie, banana, hummus, cracker, tabouli salad, and cherry tomatoes. That boy loves food and I think that cherry tomatoes may be his favorite. I put one up to his mouth and squeeze the sweet fruit into it and he is happy. He's like a baby bird in his eating and there is no doubt when he wants more. I keep trying to make him say, "More, please, Grandmother," but so far, he refuses to cooperate, instead gesturing madly towards the desired food, opening his mouth, and making a sound which has nothing to do with good manners but which gets the point across quite clearly.

When Lon and Lis got back from the short gig they'd done in Tallahassee he'd just had his bath, was so sleepy and was shy of the two new people in the kitchen but he soon took to them, got a second wind, and the next thing I know he's Owen The Clown, eating with the big folks and doing everything in his power to stay awake and have more fun.
Finally, around ten-thirty, he took a bottle and fell asleep in my arms and I put him down in the Pack-n-Play and he stayed there until his mama got home and took him upstairs for a good, long sleep.

And so I woke up feeling great, excellent, and went out to get the paper and feed the cat and when I got back inside, the guy had already called about the refrigerator delivery and I'd missed it! I was gone for less than three minutes! His message said that the refrigerator will be here between three and six.
And this will not do.
And I had gotten up JUST TO MAKE SURE I GOT HIS CALL IN A CLEAR-HEADED FRAME OF MIND BECAUSE HE WASN'T SUPPOSED TO CALL UNTIL EIGHT-THIRTY, DAMMIT!
So I call back the number on the caller ID and of course- that's the store number and they are not open yet.

Why does life have to be so damn difficult? Mr. Moon TOLD them that delivery had to be made before three.
And I'm supposed to be at the Mockingbird Cafe, bra and dress on, make-up in place, at six-thirty.

Well. I'm still in a good mood, DAMMIT! And no H.H. Gregg delivery service is going to fuck it up. I swear to you, as god is my witness, he shall not!

Harumph.

The roosters are crowing good-morning, it's not quite as hot as it has been and Lis just got up and reports that she, too, slept well. Is there anything more satisfying than having guests who sleep well in your house? Not that Lon and Lis are really guests. Family would be more like it. They helped me put out our cold supper, they helped me with Owen and they cleaned up after dinner. Not guests, beloveds.

And I get to spend all day with them and part of this morning with Owen and Lily and as soon as that store opens I will discussing delivery with whomever it is who called me.

Oh! It's nine! Lizzy and I have been chatting.
Time to call the man.

I shall report in later.

Happy Friday, y'all.

Love...Ms. Moon

  3. Happy Friday. Hug Lon and Lis for me, even though they don't me.

A shitload of my co-workers just got laid off (I am safe), and I am sort of in shock right now.

    Love you.

  4. Ohhh Ms Moon!! I about bought something for you today. I thought it would go well in Owen's room at your place or in the bathroom or the kitchen, or where ever......It was a Rooster Night Light and it was so pretty and I thought about you and your roosters and said Ms Moon NEEDS THIS!

But, you'll have to settle for a photo I took of some chickens. I'll post the chickens on my blog later today!
