Another Good Reason To Exercise

And one that I've discussed before but it bears repeating:
It completely satisfies my daily need to suffer, leaving me much freer to actually enjoy my life.

Just think- if I'd been raised Catholic, I'd probably be an Iron Man athlete.

  1. I was raised Catholic and suffered enough for the rest of my days. Its almost a revelation to discover that oone does NOT have to suffer...
The hell with the catholics I say, priests and nuns on top...

  2. I bought some $50 New Balance flip flops yesterday, because they promised to tone my hamstrings while I walk.
If I believe their claim, you should be able to bounce a quarter off this fat ass in a week or 2.

For the record, I don't believe the claim, I just wanted some really comfy flip flops that I could get away with wearing at work. Beause I don't plan to really wear them out walking, because that would imply that I plan to go out walking. I just don't have the energy these days.

  3. That's so funny -- you've picked your poison. Does begin Catholic then absolve me from exercise?

  5. It has been so humid here the last couple days. And when I'm walking, and it's really hot and sweaty, I think of you, and smile, and shut up about it :)

  6. I'm Lutheran and I'm training for a triathlon. Makes perfect sense when you think about it.

  7. You look a little red in the face and beat. I am glad that I wasn't raised Catholic, although the Iron Man idea is cool.

  9. you're funny.

and I do get a little endorphin rush after the half hour mark in running. I need it. When I am a slacker, my brain and body suffer.

But I have noticed that with age... the chips and wine and beer I treat myself to as a reward are starting to hang around for old times sake or something.

  10. I know what you mean. My legs hurt from "doing the stairs" yesterday and it makes me weirdly happy that they hurt.

  11. Photocat- I am still trying to learn that we do not have to suffer.

Rachel- Awesome! I've paid more than that for flip-flops (Mehpistoes) so don't feel bad.

    Elizabeth- Absolutely!

Jeannie- Well, I am active but it's just not enough.

Jo- Glad I can be your baseline.

    Maggie May- Can you relate?

Nancy C- Transcending religion with exercise. I love it!

Syd- A little red in the face?
Hey- now you have time. You could train for the Iron Man.

Kori- I think some of my comments are getting eaten.

Ms. Fleur- You know it's true.

deb- Yeah. For OLD time's sake.

Stephanie- There is a pleasure in the pain of exercise.

  12. I'm the opposite. I feel so GOOD after doing yoga that guilt follows, and a little voice still tells me I should forsake feeling good and scrub the toilets
