It's What's For Dinner

Stone crab claws, salad of lettuce greens from the garden with a lemon/garlic vinaigrette, fresh green beans along with whole wheat cous-cous and day-old toasted home-made toasted bread and Mississippi Mud Cake for dessert.
You?

  1. Blackened Mahi-Mahi sandwich, sweet potato fries, and two Amber Bocks :) I got a haircut, and spent the day in the Florida sun. Not too bad for a birthday...

But I'd ten times rather been eating some of your cooking.

  3. I so wish I had eaten your dinner. Right now I feel seriously sick because I had movie-theater popcorn (drenched in "butter", thanks to Melissa, although I certainly kept eating a it) and coke and cookies. Take my advise, do not attempt to do that, because it makes you feel terrible.
I hope your day was nice. Sleep well tonight!

  5. That looks and sounds delicious, Ms. Moon! I haven't had stone crab since we moved from Florida, you made my mouth water.

We've been out of town and just did a quickie whole wheat fan pasta with a fresh tomato sauce, heavy on the garlic.

  6. Nothing as good as that! We went to Cabos though, and it was fun. So was the circus.

  7. OMG, I had almost the same thing as SJ, at the Beachcomber here in St. Augustine ~ blackened mahi burger (but with regular fries) and a couple glasses of chardonnay! But if I had my preference I'd be eating some of your crab claws and garden-fresh salad...love, lulu

  8. ...spent the day at Lowe's buying stuff to scrape and paint the house, and new windows and stuff. So we stopped in Logan's - I had mesquite grilled salmon with dill/lemon sauce, deepfried mushrooms with horseradish sauce, and a glass of Chardonnay. Husband kept feeding me forkfuls of his steak just to prove to me how it melted in the mouth.

I would have much rather been at home cooking Sunday supper, but sometimes it's nice to just get up and walk away from the table free and clear, especially when you're involved in lots of projects once you get back home.

How could life be anything but good with this amazing weather?

  10. SJ- I don't know- that all sounds pretty good! No cake? Well, I ate some for you.

Notjustafemme- The recipe comes from New Recipes From Moosewood Restaurant. It is a delicious, dense chocolate cake and one the authors refer to as an "adult" cake. I suppose this is because it contains both coffee and bourbon in it. I highly recommend it and the cookbook it comes from.

HoneyLuna- I wish you had been here too. What movie did you see?

Mel- Well, it was easy. Mr. Moon had bought the crab claws on the way to the island and the greens came from the garden and so forth.

Kathleen Scott- And that sounds mighty fine, too!

Ms. Fleur- I haven't been to Cabos in awhile or the circus in FOREVER! Sounds like fun.

Lulumarie- Now I'm craving blackened amberjack. Damn.

Laynie- I love salmon so much. Your supper sounds terrific and you did not have to wash dishes.

Nigel- Well, again let me say- you didn't have much to wash up after.

  14. Christ, I wish that was my dinner. My dinner is usually total junk, because my fat ass is lazy and DOES NOT cook.

  15. Oh I LOVE Mississippi mud cake - though the one we had as children had no bourbon (my family's all teetotalers). Picture please next time.

I know I've become too into facebook whenI tried to just click the "like" button for this post. :)

P.S. In Shreveport. Kinda liking it right now - drove through a John Deere parking lot tonight just because I could, and I'd forgotten how much I'd missed farm machinery. Staying in a hotel full of hard-working men (here on work assignments). Liking my odds right now.
