And Then Like A Robin Coming To Visit

This...day.
I can't say when I've had such a lovely one. It has been, well, I can't even describe it. And nothing, nothing happened out of the ordinary. No checks came in the mail, no agent called who wanted to represent me, no one gave birth here or told me I was beautiful. My house is still a mess, I am still too big for my jeans.

But despite it's ordinariness, this has just been a day where my heart has been so light that I can barely hold on to it.

So here. Here are pictures. I want to share them with you because when I am so sad I can barely get out of bed, I tell you and you hold your hands out to me and without them I might drown but today is so good that I want to whisper in your ear and say, See? It can be this way too. Remind me, please, on those sad days and I will remind you, too.

A boy watching chickens.

A chicken (Miss Betty) scratching in the Nandina.

A boy laughing.

A boy kissing a very old dog.

A boy worshipping his mother.

A Johnny-Jump-Up which has survived and bloomed from last winter.

And then this, probably the reason for my mood of such contentment, such joy:

My feet are bare and my shoulders are not tensed against the cold and I can feel everything frozen inside of me begin to melt.

Remind me of this day, okay? Remind me of how happy I was on this very, very ordinary, most remarkable day.

Happy Friday, y'all.
Love...Ms. Moon

  1. I will remind you every day, to keep away the blues that are not ours, the clean, sky blue of serenity and peace, the joy of watching Owen grow and to know that you are loved, for no other reason that you are you.

  4. I'll remind you, as well as myself. I'm so happy for your wonderful day and envious of your temperature. I live in the nation's icebox.

  5. A Robin.
Most possibly my favorite day of the year is the day the Robins fill the yard. Their migration passes through my yard. They fly in unnoticed and when a movement through the glass catches my eye I turn and stare - hundreds of Robins. Red breasts filling the yard hopping and listening for the worms beneath.
Perk up, the Robins are on their way - it's almost time and I think they must fill your yard too.

In the meantime, you have a good chicken chaser to keep your eyes staring.

  7. Allegra- And that is why I purely love you.

Steph- And I'm happy you're taking a class in grape growing!

Lesbo- I know. Doesn't it have a sweet little face?

Sandra- I couldn't do it. I have to live where the trees never all go brown and where the air is mostly warm.

Girl Fires- I have already seen the robins in my yard and others. Brave little birds!

  8. Oh Ms Moon, this makes me happy. Happy you're happy. Yes we need to remind each other. Thank you.
It was warmer here today too, maybe 40 or so. I didn't wear my coat from the house to the car and I survived. I almost skipped.
Happy weekend. Oh and those pics of Owen are precious precious. Love his happy face. It just speaks for the entire post.

  10. Bethany- Sometimes I feel like everything I do is just an excuse to present Owen to the world.

Tiff- Then I have done my job.

Deb- You may certainly use it if you give me credit. And I will if you will.

  12. I'll remind you! And thank you for reminding us! And keep posting those photos of baby Owen. I love seeing him grow and smile and laugh. And in reference to your comment over at my blog, I think your life is a kind of prayer, and I don't think anything was meant about traditional prayer in that quote.

  15. It's warm here too. Almost 40 I think. Funny how a day can just turn around for no apparent reason. Must be those pesky neurotransmitters.

...there'd be days like this my mama said...

    good days

  16. Hi Ms Moon, I get what you're writing about - those ordinary days when everthing seems so...completely wonderful. According to a friend, I have a term for this: ordinary ecstacy. I doubt I coined the phrase, but in my wild imaginations I'm happy to claim it. I hope you get many more ordinary days!

Elizabeth- I know. As I said, we all have our definitions of prayer. I love you so.

Jo- We call him Squishy. I think the reason is obvious.

    Maggie- I know!

    Michelle- Amazing, isn't it?

Nigel- Thank you for coming by. I love ordinary ecstacy.

    Pretty Things- I think so.

  21. Just seeing that it's 70 somewhere out there, makes me feel all the warmer. It's only 42 here, which doesn't feel so bad after weeks of ZERO! Keep warm!

  22. Love that picture of Miss Betty! She's a looker. I couldn't even see the rooster abuse.

  23. How, how, HOW can you go from freezing to that temperature in such a short time? You live in a freaky place, Ms. Moon. And that temperature would make anyone happy in the middle of winter.

(Am going to keep shaking my head in disbelief for another hour or so.)
