Monday, Monday

The men got in about nine last night, exhausted, sunburned, and hungry. Thinking that this was going to be the way of it, I'd made a meal and they sat down and ate and Chip went home and Mr. Moon did a few things that had to be done and then he came on to bed. I think he was up with leg cramps all night so I doubt he got much rest.

I went to town today and that always wears me out. There's so much noise and frustration involved. I listened to the Senate hearing on NPR as I drove and as much as I thought I despised that damn fuckhead Trump, I realize that there is no true bottom to the depths of my hatred for him. He's insane and he's such a crook. Not even a very good crook because he just does whatever he wants to and thinks he can get away with it which at this point, he pretty much has. When I heard about his fund-raising efforts AFTER the election to supposedly support his legal defense in the courts to prove that he'd won, not even bothering to create the fraud fund he claimed, I was stunned. Just how evil can one man be? He raised at least 250 million dollars in the eight weeks after the election which actually got funneled into a PAC which he can use for just about whatever he wants.
More gold toilets, I suppose.
And the damn thing is, he KNEW he'd lost the election. Even the people closest to him (with the exception of Rudy The Inebriated Giuliani) told him that no, actually, Biden had won and that there was no evidence whatsoever to think otherwise. And then Trump used all of those lying, unsubstantiated, conspiratorial rumors to bring in mo-money, mo-money, mo-money.
And yes, of course, to eventually create an insurrection at the Capitol.

Maybe that's what has exhausted me, not the trip to town. Or maybe it all has.
There's not a whole lot to report about my shopping except to say that two places I wanted to go were closed on Monday, one a seafood market, and one an Asian market so I went to a different Asian market where I bought sesame seeds and dill seeds for a penny on the dollar for what they cost in the grocery store. If you can even find them. I got a few other things too. I love shopping in that store.
Please forgive me if I have used the wrong term for those stores. One is actually called Lynn's Oriental Market and one is called Apna Agora to be specific.
They smell good, like guavas and spices and a little bit like the neighborhood grocery stores in Mexico.
Costco and Publix smelled the same as usual which is to say I don't even think about what they smell like unless they're rotissering  chickens.

And then I came home and unloaded about forty-seven hundred kilos of groceries and miscellaneous goods including a new fan I got at Costco called The Vornado because how could I not buy a Vornado?

It's so hot and I'm sure that, too, is adding to my lack of energy and overall, I just feel rather defeated and overwhelmed by everything from my filthy kitchen floor to the state of humanity and I cannot imagine doing a damn thing about any of it. If I get my teeth flossed and brushed before I go to bed, it will be an act of great and powerful will.

We all have days like this.

Oh. And Mick Jagger has Covid.

Love...Ms. Moon

  2. It is currently 93° here in S. CO at coming onto 6 p.m. So, yes, the heat sucks the energy right out of you! Ours is a very dry heat ... Humidity 7%. Sheesh ... We need rain so bad and the fires in N.M. and AZ are mucking up our air quality!
Yes, my dear, it all sucks big time! Fix a martini or two!!

    1. Yes. It's 91 here on my back porch. But our humidity is like 48 percent which actually isn't THAT high for us but it's enough. No rain in sight though.

  3. love the Vornado! Probably as awesome (hopefully) as the Thermonster! Yes....doesn't take much to wear us out, does it? I'm staying away from watching the hearings because.....it would just make me SO angry....and I try not to go there if I can help it. It's all vile, anyway you look at it. Vile man, vile and rabid followers...... yuck. I filled my car up with gas today and almost gasped........ good thing I had gone to ATM to get cash.....but it sucked up half of what I got. Sheesh........ more anger, not good

    1. I was a little doubtful when my husband brought home a Prius but I am grateful for it now.
I do get angry watching the hearings but it is also comforting or at least reassuring to see grown-up people who have important roles in our government speaking the truth. So there is that...

  4. A gulp of pickle juice is the remedy of choice in our household for muscle cramps (those things are THE WORST) so thought I'd share in case that might help Mr. Moon if he gets them again.

    1. He does sometimes take a vinegar concoction. His leg cramps are fairly chronic and I'm pretty sure he gets them because of his crazy-long legs and related circulatory problems. They really hit him hard when he's been working outside and sweating a lot.

    2. Sweating a lot indicates he needs to replace that lost fluid pretty quickly to avoid the cramps. Is he able to gulp down a bottle of gatorade or similar while working or straight after?

  6. Oh....you say everything that only floats around in my head about Trump. He really is a despicable bastard, so thanks for putting it into the written word for me!!! And have Mr. Moon try eating a spoonful of mustard...supposed to help cramps. xxoo

    1. Never heard that about the mustard. Hmmm...
Trump is the worst kind of despicable bastard- he's desperate, too. Ugh a million times over.

    2. like Carol.......I've heard about mustard too, for leg cramps. got to be the cheap French's mustard......a teaspoon full. Also heard of pickle juice......and I have an acquaintance that swears by putting a bar of Dove soap in between the bottom end of the bed sheets........
who knows? I think Mr Moon just razzled his electrolyte balance after that strenuous work at hot Dog Island.

  7. Hi I just discovered your blog because I went down a rabbit hole googling the body composition of a spider (wolf spider with egg sac), and then I saw a diagram that included the anus, and I was like, wait a minute I never thought about spiders actually having an anus and so then I had to Google what spider poop looks like, and voila! You wrote about it back in like 2014! Nice to meet you, I am glad you're still blogging. Normally when you run across an older article and enjoy it you are disappointed to learn that the blog just stops randomly on a Tuesday 5 years ago after announcing more blogging is yet to come. I am thoroughly enjoying your sense of humor and your shared info. Thanks for being there, and showing me what spider poop looks like. I had no idea

    1. That is so funny! Google "spider poop" and come up with my blog! Yep. I'm still here. My last post will probably be the one I write right before my death. Welcome and thanks for commenting! We have a lovely community here!

  8. Will the slimy bastid go to prison? Doubtful. I'm going to bed. Magnesium might work for leg cramps. They're awful, though I haven't had any since I was pregnant, way back in 67 the last time.

    1. We have tried everything for those cramps. Some things do help. Bizarrely, drinking chocolate milk on the days when he's working hard outside is one of them. But he does take tablets that are homeopathic (which I definitely do NOT believe in) and again, bizarrely, they help too.

  11. Mick Jagger has Covid?? oh no! I hope he survives and without any of the long term after effects. If I'd seen a fan called the Vornado I would have to buy it too :)

The Vornado is a pretty fine fan.

  12. I'm tired of thinking about the state of the world too, but give me the smells of an Asian market any day and my mood instantly lifts!

  13. I saw that about Mick Jagger. I'm sure he'll be fine. That guy is too tough for Covid.

One would think "Lynn's Oriental Market" would be a problematic name, indicating as it does a Western perspective. Then again, I suppose that may well BE the perspective of someone named Lynn. So who knows.

I can't think too much about Trump or his minions. I just have to live in the present and relish the fact that they're no longer in power.

    1. I like to think that Mick is too tough for covid and I sure hope he is. I wonder if the other guys will get it. There's some pretty intense mic sharing that goes on.
Lynn's Oriental Market has been here forever and I can't see the name changing any time soon.
Amen on your last sentence. I just wish he'd fall down a hole to hell, never to be seen again.

  14. I think you're right about men but still WTF!

I think trump has tapped into people's fears by accident, that man is way too dumb too do anything on purpose. If you can make people afraid and angry, you can control them and pretty much make them do anything, just give them a target. I had an epiphany the other day and decided that anger is what rules the world and anger comes from fear, so basically, fear runs the world. Oh joy. That's not fucked up at all.

Sending hugs woman. We have a week of rain to look forward to here but the trees are happy about it.

    1. Oh, I am sure you are right- that's how religion works too. Fear. First the religion creates the fear (you'll go to hell if you're a sinner and oh, by the way- these are the sins) and then claims to be the only way to be saved. It's such fucking bullshit. I hate it.
I bet your trees are happy. So many places need rain now. Enjoy it.

  15. Wouldn't it be great if the trumpers finally had an "ah ha moment" and turned on him? My wishful thinking...
It is getting hot here too - 99 degrees today and I am glad I got A/C (no Vornado, tho)!

    1. I think they're going to double down instead of having any sort of ''ah-ha" moment. They've got too much invested whether of money or pride to turn on the man.
      But I wish.

  16. We're watching them too though I will miss the one on Thursday. I knew about the legal defense fund because for some reason they were sending me emails though they got caught in the spam blocker. Of course it was a scam! this is the man that raised millions for vets and then kept it all, who cannot run a charity because when he did, he kept all the money. All these people testifying now...we told him, we told him they say now. They were all pretty damn quiet when it was happening though, still supporting him.

It's miserably hot here plus Sahara dust. Yay. And Mick has covid.

    1. I had vaguely heard about his fund-raising after the election but I had no idea it was that blatantly based on lies. I am not surprised, honestly. And I agree with you about all those damn people who supposedly told him that his election lies were bullshit who certainly didn't tell the rest of us and still pledged their undying allegiance. They're no heroes of mine.
