1. I realized yesterday when the news of the death of Jerry Lewis hit social media that my feelings about him and Jim Carrey as actors are the same. Physical revulsion. I do not know why but that's just the way it is.
2.
Thank you, Lulumarie.
Love...Ms. Moon
I liked Jerry Lewis when I was about eight years old. Which is basically the level of his comedy. I have to admit, although I think Jim Carrey movies are obnoxious, I laughed like crazy when I saw "The Mask" years and years ago. (Of course I was younger then, too, but older than eight!)
ReplyDeleteLove the "eclipse." If only.
If only.
DeleteI liked Jerry Lewis but also from being a kid. I have no feelings about Jim Carrey. Maybe you can tell me - why is it so important that our government be Christian? It's a bit rhetorical as I know it always was so... but are Christians more moral than other religious than other religious or non-religious people? I'm tired of hearing this. And I know some highly Christian supposedly good people who VOTED for Trump. If Trump is impeached, are we any better off other than not having to see insane Cherri... but in terms of policies? I want to run away from life as we are seeing it.
ReplyDeleteGirl, I have no idea why our government feels the need to be Christian or religious in any way. Even when Obama ended his speeches with "and God bless America," I shuddered.
DeleteI wasn't a fan of Jerry Lewis either, but I sure did like Dean Martin, I always thought him to be the best half of their combined act and he remained a class act long after separating from Lewis. Carrey and Will Ferrell are both comedy routines that a little bit of them goes a long way and I get irritated more than amused.
ReplyDeleteDean was beautiful and an amazing vocalist. He was rude to the Rolling Stones though. Whatever. I'm sure he had no idea what they were about. I'm with you on Carrey and Ferrell. Their comedy is just too rubbery and broad. Uck.
DeleteOh how I wish that were the eclipse, too. And to be frank, I had thought Jerry Lewis already dead. But you're right, he and Jim Carrey, same same.
ReplyDeleteYes. Same-same. Rubber faces. Freaks me out.
DeleteAgree!
ReplyDeleteWe all have our likes and dislikes, don't we?
DeleteThere was something about Jerry that felt inauthentic to me. His smile didn't make it all the way to his eyes.
ReplyDeleteIt felt like there was an angry, vicious person lying just underneath the surface.
Yes. Exactly. Like- trying to cover crazy with funny.
DeleteDon't work. Not for that kind of crazy, anyway.
I think K. E. got it right about Jerry Lewis. I will miss Dick Gregory a lot more. Owen has become a young man right before our eyes!
ReplyDeleteXoxo
Barbara
Dick Gregory's death really flattened me. He was so genuine and such a part of my education.
DeleteWeird that he and Lewis died so close together.
Ha. I feel the same.
