Whip It, Nicole! Whip It Good!

Poor Jack. He had to get off the bed when I made it and just as he'd settled on the swing porch to watch the yard, I came out with a broom to sweep the leaves off. He was not amused.

I had another appointment today with the massage therapist who works on specific areas of the body and today it was my hip. It is the kind of massage work where the phrase, "Let me know if it gets too intense," was used frequently. Lots of pressure on certain points to try to get things to release and relax and I am sure it will have helped but this evening I just feel sore and almost pre-flu-like which is exactly how I felt last time so I guess that's the way it is.

I'm feeling rather flat and down altogether today and I am sure that most of it is because Glen's leaving at four tomorrow morning and has spent the day very cheerfully packing. I will be absolutely fine and am looking forward to getting back to playing around on the piano and I've already bought some salmon, some tuna, and some cauliflower. I just kinda like the guy, you know? I'm used to having him around, I guess. When Covid started and we were all hunkering down in our houses I really wondered how we'd manage because for our entire life together he'd gone to work every week day but I was surprised to find that instead of growing weary of having him around, it was instead a time of growing affection.
I am so grateful for that.
And I think that my emotions are a bit overworked from the weekend I just had and I'm already in a little bit of a crash so there's that.
And just to add to the fun, I have a dentist appointment on Wednesday, and appointments on Thursday to get a mammogram and a bone density test. None of these are horribly anxiety-producing for me but they do rouse a certain bit of agita in my soul.
Of course the cherry on top of the cowgirl as Tom Robbins once said, is that by the end of the week we are most likely going to be getting a tropical storm. I keep watching for updates from my favorite absolutely non-fear-mongering meteorologist and he does seem to feel that we will be getting something. He's usually so good about advising  us not to panic and reminding us of how things can change so quickly but I guess things are stable enough in the areas surrounding the building storm that predictions are more apt to be accurate than they usually are.

It would appear that the storm will hit Florida twice, first on the east coast and then it will whip around in the Gulf and hit us again, right in the Big Bend area, but hey! Who really knows? Right?
I'm slightly concerned. That is all. It's also concerning that Jessie and Vergil and the boys are going to be in Central Florida starting on Wednesday. Vergil's got a business thing in Orlando and then they're going to Lego Land in Winter Haven. Levon's birthday is Wednesday and this is the big event.

Oh, it's all going to be fine.

But I suppose when I put all of this together in my head, it adds up to some discomfort and I need to just go with it all and not be such a Chicken Little. "Face it" and "sit with it" as they say.
And as I always say- who the hell is they and what do they know about the inside of my crazy head?
Nothing. That's what.

Off to go cook my husband some good southern food before he leaves for the Great North. Snapper that he caught, cole slaw, cornbread. Like that. I have eaten so much good seafood lately and I am not in the least tired of it.

All will be well and all will be very well or however that saying goes and at least we may get some real rain which we so dearly need.

Be back tomorrow.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. I hear that let down after a great time, and not ready for Mr moon to leave right now. The medical things will take your mind off the storm, Mrs Lincoln..

    1. And the play was excellent! Haha! I love that saying.
I don't think I was quite ready for Glen to leave but I'm fine.

  2. Let's hope that Nicole dances in like a ballerina - just rustling her tutu. Did you get that piano tuned yet?

    1. I have not gotten the piano tuned. The old thing isn't worth tuning, bless her heart. She needs WORK.
We've already gotten a few gusts today.

  3. You certainly came back to a busy week. You said not stressful, so I said busy, not exciting.

Well that’s a lot of things on one little week’s calendar, so of course you’re feeling a bit of agita, especially as you will briefly be without the grounding presence of your love. But you’ll play the piano and the storm will be a bust and all will be well, will be very well indeed. Love.

    1. I know- two weeks ago when I realized all the stuff I had to do this week and all that was going on (without any knowledge of a storm, of course) I was a bit shocked and dismayed. I'll get it all done and that will be that.

  5. Hope you fare as with Nicole as we did with Lisa. We did not even get a stiff breeze and less than half an inch of rain. Of course areas just to our north suffered quite a bit. But maybe Nicole will spin away from everyone - wouldn't that be grand?

    1. Oh gosh. That would be so great. I'm really glad that Lisa didn't affect you. We're already getting some stiff breezes which doesn't seem possible.

  6. My cousin lives in Wellington I think it is, now I'm worried about her.
I spent the day with Mr. Cranky Pants which may have made me a little cranky too. He just knows which buttons to push and then we had a conversation about his dad which was hard. Poor little bugger.
Hope you have a good week, despiter everything. Sending hugs.

    1. I had never heard of Wellington and just looked it up. It's a bit south of where I used to live in Roseland. They may get some weather for sure. Damn.
Oh, poor little bugger indeed. That boy has been through it and you've been through it with him, every step of the way.
      Sending hugs to YOU!

  7. I hope the bits that hit your area are very mild and hope too that Jessie and Vergil and the boys will be okay. Happy Birthday to Levon.

    1. Thanks, River! I don't think Jessie knows yet whether she's going to head down south or not. You just cannot get an accurate prediction about these storms until right before they hit, usually.

  8. Yes, may that old Julian of Norwich be correct: "And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

  9. I didn't realize Mr. Moon was off on another adventure. Jack does look comfy on the porch! At least Nicole doesn't seem like she'll be too powerful. (Famous last words!)

    1. Ooh boy, Steve. You know how it goes. Predictions all vary and then none of them end up being exactly right. Yep, Glen's off on Canadian Adventure Part II!

  10. Hope you are safe from the storm. My brother and his wife are in Tampa and supposed to fly out on Thursday. Might be a problem from looking at your map. Oh well, wait and see and hope for the best (like the elections!)

    1. Yes, your brother and sister-in-law are going to just have to wait and see like the rest of us. It sucks but that's part of the suckiness of hurricanes- the predictions can be so iffy.
As to the elections- well, I am not overly hopeful.

  11. I heard on NPR that it is almost unheard of for a tropical storm/hurricane to make landfall in November even though it is still hurricane season. Back to Canada so soon? Was the first trip just prep?

    1. The worst storm by far that I have experienced in this area was Hurricane Kate in 1985. It was so bad ass. Truly a bad storm. So it sure can happen.
This is an entirely different hunting situation with entirely different guys in a different area of Canada.
      Sigh.

  12. Let's hope you just get some nice soaking rain. Anything else can be dealt with if it happens.
Enjoy your plunking on the piana.
