Lagniappe

Yeah. I'm a vain woman who is proud of her cooking.
There's no pizza delivery in Lloyd.
So this is what happens.

Which has turned into these:

The alchemy of flour and yeast and salt and water and olive oil and vegetables and a little bit of ham steak (buy one, get one free at Publix this week!) and fire, and cheese which is magic performed with milk.

When I was eighteen years old I got to go to Europe and one of the places we visited was a dairy farm in Switzerland. We saw the pretty cows and we went into the barn where the farmer showed us how he made the cheese and then pulled an accordion from the rafters of that very barn and strapped it on and played it and sang a song in which yodeling was involved.

I've never thought about cheese the same way again.

How grateful I am for those cows, that barn, that farmer, that accordion.

Time to eat!

Love...Ms. Moon

    1. They were delicious! Still are, as a matter of fact. I have a ton of leftover pizza.

  2. I will take your pizza over any chain restaurant any day.

He pulled out an accordion? That's something that I would dream and having it really happen would be pure awesomeness.

    1. I was 17/18. Thought I'd be back in Europe within a year. Haven't gone yet. Well, at least I went once.

  4. Don't feel too vain about it. I almost posted a picture of a pasta sauce I made yesterday from tomatoes, onion, pepper and spice from my garden, simply because it was just so pretty.

  6. What a great memory! Cheese is one of those things (like coffee or wine) that just amazes me. How did anyone EVER think to do what it takes to produce any of those products?

    1. Oh! I love that! I'm hoping for enough squash of my own to make some too! I'd love to make tomato sauce but I seriously doubt I'll have enough tomatoes for that.
