It has been a terrific day so far and I'm not joking. I took a good walk and when I got to the Post Office, those two things were waiting for me. My Bruce book and my new sexy, hot, voluminous white cotton nightgown. I plan to spend many happy hours wearing my new sexy, hot voluminous nightgown in bed with Bruce.
Before I start the Bruce book though, I have to finish the one I'm reading which is an older Kate Atkinson book which is, in some ways, the funniest book I've ever read.
I can't describe it but I will say that Atkinson, as we all know, has a master's ability to deal with many levels of reality at once, braiding and twisting and revealing as she wishes. Dang. She's good. And, as I wrote my daughter May, who just finished the book, in some strange ways it reminds me of Larry McMurtry's novel, All Of My Friends Are Going To Be Strangers although on the surface one would never see the resemblance. Both books, however distant in time and space, portray the insanity of graduate English departments. Not that I'd really know but now I can certainly imagine.
So. There you go. I'm not going to go buy seeds and plants today but am going to babysit three of my grands for awhile and I have to go to the grocery store. It is a beautiful day and whatever niggling worries I am carrying in my gut are controllable. When I was collecting my package at the PO, I inadvertently left my beloved walking stick which Mr. Moon made for me, beside the window and when I went back to get it, I discovered that the sweetest old man had given it to the post master for safe-keeping. He had longish white hair (think Will Geer) and was wearing tidy dark blue jeans and a crisp white shirt with suspenders and his eyes twinkled.
Yes. A terrific day so far and I feel good and strong, albeit sore, but that's a fact of my everyday life and as long as I keep digging in the dirt and walking down the roads and paths, I'll be okay.
P.S. Jo shared a video on FB today which has brought me great joy.
Here it is. May it bring you joy as well. And inspiration.
