Bubble Wrap Party Time!

When Mr. Moon went to the Ducks Unlimited dinner a few nights ago, he bought door prize tickets and ended up winning both a small Yeti cooler and a Yeti waterproof carrier bag. Like a duffel, which was stuffed with yards of the good bubblewrap that has big bubbles. When I saw that I said, "And that stuff is the best prize of all."
So the guys had to test it out this afternoon. It was the loudest bubblewrap popping I ever heard. They had to take it out of the hallway to the back yard because it was so loud it was deafening me.
What joy!

This is going to be short because supposedly children need to eat supper early. What's up with that? They've all just eaten a large amount of popcorn so they won't starve but still, no one will benefit if they go to bed too late.

They seem very happy to be here. Levon told his mother that they were going to watch SO MUCH TV! And the GRINCH!
So far this has proven to be true. Jessie told them on the way over that she, too, wanted a sleep-over at Mer and Bop's. Maybe she should spend the night too? She told me that Levon almost cried at the prospect. No way Mom would let them watch as much TV and enjoy as many treats as his grandparents would. She reassured them that she would go on home after dropping them off. What a relief!

I've got the chicken stew ready to put dumplings in so that won't take long. I've been cooking it for most of the day. I also got to work on the camellia bed and cleared out some of the trash plants and fallen pecan limbs. It looks a lot better. I surely did not give those camellias enough room when I planted them. I am bad about crowding plants, whether camellias or carrots. I seem to think they all need companionship or something.

I took some pictures of some of the things growing in the yard right now.

Little paper white narcissus that seemingly opened overnight.

They are so pretty but they do not smell good so they will not be coming inside.

The Japanese maple that I planted when we moved in. The man who sold us this house gave it to us at the signing.

Another camellia is opening up now. I want to say this is a Sea Foam but I'm pretty sure it's not. I don't have time to do the research right now. It is lovely in its simplicity, I think. Elegant, not fussy.

Another bit of good news that I did not write about yesterday is that the person who read Mr. Moon's MRI from an actual radiology place feels quite certain that what we're looking at is a hematoma. Still, we will be going in on Monday morning to make sure. And then he will leave that appointment and head to Alabama, I think, to go hunt with his old friend Mike. They will also be hunting in Tennessee. Strangely enough, Glen has not gotten meat for the freezer yet this year and he is hoping to do that.
And have a very good time while he's at it.
Oh, that man.
Note to self: Buy more LeSueur baby green peas.

Happy Friday, y'all.

Love...Ms. Moon

  3. I've always found paper narcissi's to be without smell and a welcome addition to indoor arrangements. Little pops to notice, like bubble wrap for the eyes.

    1. Well, I better go smell them again. Maybe I'm thinking of something else. They sure are pretty.

    2. I can't bear the smell. Must be about body chemistry.

  5. So glad to hear that the diagnosis is not as serious as feared. I know you'll be relieved when it's all resolved. In the meantime, I love the joy at the Moon household!

There is indeed some joy at times around here.

  6. Bubble wrap. What a gift!
I can't believe you have spring flowers and it's not even winter properly. You are crazy upside down in Lloyd.

  7. No meat for the freezer yet? There's not much time left. Winter, such as it is in Florida, will soon be upon you.
I love the picture of the bubblewrap stomping! do they also lie down and roll around on it? My kids did that. The camellia is beautiful. I don't like the smell of narcissus either, nor the paperwhite Jonquils, they are all far too heady for my sinuses.

    1. They rolled on it, crawled on it, and them jumped on it some more. Well, the boys did. Not their grandfather.
The season is different in all of the states so he has a little time in Arkansas and Tennessee.

  8. Great news! Hematoma makes a lot of sense.

What a neat gift, that maple. It's spectacular, especially the way you captured it against the sky.

Adorable. Love Mr. Moon in there with them. Takes me back to bubble wrap days! My sister an i found inventive ways to combine bubble wrap and treadmill tricks down in our grandparent's basement. We came out of it pretty unscathed somehow. Did you ever find it satisfying to sit and pop every bubble? I sure did, but it's totally lost on me anymore.

    1. That maple has been a continuing gift for over eighteen years now. I love watching it through the seasons.
I never felt that I must pop all the bubbles but I will admit that even at my age I cannot pass up the opportunity to stomp some of them or pop them with my fingers.

  9. Good news for Mr. Moon and I hope the follow-up confirms the hematoma, but I wonder who is REALLY having the most bubble wrap fun!

  11. I dug up what I thought were narcissus bulbs at an estate sale and planted them in the ground but I decided they weren't doing well and put them in pots and the squirrels kept digging them up and they didn't put out roots until the finally did but haven't bloomed. They did just recently put out green growth so hopefully next year I'll get flowers. My one little camellia has not grown much but it did give me about 8 flowers most of which opened in the last couple of days. It has white fly on it which I cannot seem to get rid of.

    1. Camellias are SLOW growers. I always say they are not your instant solution for landscaping needs. But they do grow and every year you will get more blooms. Good luck with the white fly!

  13. in this case, a hematoma sounds good! A bad one will be a long time healing/absorbing. A bubble wrap party- how FUN is that? The paper white's don't smell good? Hmm..... in spring I have Freesia's and I can't bring them in because hubby hates the smell.....whereas I love it! That camellia is just spectacular. IMO second only to your Pink Perfection! I'm sure the sleepover last night was fun!

    1. I am sure that if it is a hematoma, it will take forever to heal. Mr. Moon's circulation is not good. It's a trait he inherited from his mother's side of the family. But eventually, it will.
I'm glad you liked the camellia. I keep checking the pink perfections but not yet!
