A Boy Goes Fishing

When Bop heard that Owen was patiently fishing in the fishless pond in our back yard with a pole made of a wire flamingo leg, he wasted no time in getting to the store and buying that boy a real fishing pole of his own.

This is what ensued:

And then this happened:

The boy caught his first fish. And there were seven caught in all. Caught and released to swim away and perhaps be caught again.

He had a great time with his Bop and while they were gone, I played with my new Kindle and all I can say is that for the grand total of $2.99 I have The Complete Works of Charles Dickens, Little Women, and Little Men on a $99 device and as far as I can tell, I'm already ahead.
My library is begun.

And Owen and his mama have just left and the dishes are washed and Owen is coming back tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. and this old woman is going to bed.

And one more thing- Buster, as you can see in the first video, seems to be making a rapid recovery. He is eating again as well as moving around.

Love...A Grandmother

  1. I love that you have a southern accent, and sound just like my whole family :) Guess that's why we're family too.

  2. How freaking cute is that???

Was the Little Bear Whale/Octopus thing a coincidence? I thought it was precious either way.

Also cannot believe he caught one on his first try! Did they go to Lloyd creek?

  4. Wonderful conversations, Ms Moon amid all that fishing. I enjoy those accents, too. So different from my own.

  5. I just LOVE this! And I will tell you that @ 2 years old Owen is already a more accomplished fisherman then me...I've never been fishing.

Isn't it great having access to all those classic novels for free? It's been interesting re-reading those books now. I love how my perspective on a book changes with age/life experience.

  6. You know -- I loved watching every bit of that little video. He is such a darling little boy, and it's so good to hear your voice. I'm always surprised that your southern accent isn't stronger. It is on the blog! And congrats on becoming a Kindle owner. I think you're going to love it.

  7. Hi MsMoon -- I am one of your relatively new readers, Joanne. That video of Owen and Bop was one of the most precious thing I've ever seen. Soooo sweet, especially the ticklish kiss at the end. You are a wonderful grandma and from what I've seen on your blog you are not "old woman." Wishes for a wonderful holiday where you have a fabulous time with your love and come home to your loved ones renewed and refreshed!

  14. Oh, god. I love Owen. I love Bop. I love Buster. And I love you Ms. Moon.

And who woulda thunk that pink flamingo would bring so much joy? He is going to remember that when he is older.
