In Which I Wear A Polo Shirt

When we went to Milton, our director's husband who was our road manager got us all polo shirts that said Opera House Stage Company on them for us to wear on our great road adventure.

So on Saturday morning, Rich and Kathleen and I put our shirts on and posed for this picture. A nice man named William, I think, took the picture for us. He had an amazing belt buckle on. I wish I had a picture of THAT.

Anyway, here we are, three friends at the Pensacola La Quinta Inn right before a woman, confusing us for hotel employees because of our professional-looking shirts, asked if we could get her a box of Kleenex for her room.

This was only the second time in my life I'd ever worn a polo shirt. And the first time I wore one, it was borrowed and then returned.

Old hippies just don't wear polo shirts. It's not a part of our uniform. Really. Check the handbook.

But I wore that one proudly because hey! I'm part of the Opera House Stage Company!

And what's a stage company without costumes?

  2. You look like you're having so much fun! Did you crank the AC up as soon as you got to the hotel?

  5. yep, I got a few polos when I thought it was time to grow up and wear the uniform.
    They burn my skin! AGH!
Now I flip up the collar for that extra edge.

  6. Oh come on, you could 'hippie up' a polo shirt, couldn't you? Throw on some beads or a fringed vest over the top?
I admit I'm not much of a polo shirt wear-er. Collars bother me.

  7. Been there, wore the t-shirt, eh? Don't let them confuse you with a roadie - you're an Actor (even actresses are actors - I think) - you should be getting your Actor's Equity card any day now!

  8. DTG- No, we didn't. The temperature was so perfect. We did turn it on for the nighttime, though.

    Nicol- No. I am not.

Lady Lemon- Yes. An impostor or someone in drag. Either one.

Magnum- I tried flipping the collar up but I only looked even more stupid.

MOB- Hey, when you're in the Opera House stage company, you're a roadie. Even if you are an ACTOR.

  9. Yeah, our polo shirts are pretty damn cool. I'll have to get you all copies of the pictures I took. I also snagged a copy of their local entertainment paper "The Pelican" for everyone; it has an article on us on page 3.

  11. Jon- Do me a favor and don't give me the pictures in which I look hideous. I saw that article. I love the "once-in-a-lifetime" thing when it was being presented TWICE!!!

    Lopo- We live to serve.
