Happy Birthday, Levon! Plus Other Stuff

That was Levon three years ago today when he was just a few hours old. Which of course means that it's his birthday. If you would like to read about the day he was born you can go here.
I don't know about you but there is nothing I love more than a good birth story and Levon's is a fine one. It's one of Jessie's birth stories, too, of course, and I've said it before and I'll say it again- she is a birthing goddess. As is Lily.

I've been thinking about Levon's birthday for days. I have a present for him in the closet that I bought last week. Yet somehow, this morning, it completely slipped my mind. I went on a fine walk and had the glorious experience of taking down two Trump signs. One was a sign stuck into the ground on a spit of what I think is county land, definitely not in someone's yard. So I pulled it up and laid it down. The other one I pulled from the power pole in front of Mr. Lawrence's old store that someone had stapled up there. I was on my way to the post office, filled with piss and vinegar and endorphins, probably, and I just reached up on my tippy toes and snatched that thing down and threw it in a dumpster by the PO. Fuck that shit. That power pole doesn't belong to the guy who put it up there any more than it belongs to me and it's done and it's over, no matter what Donald Trump and his minions say and that is fucking THAT!

But suddenly, just as I was approaching home again, I remembered. Levon's birthday! I called his mama and it sounded like they were having a fine time. They were about to take a drive to see if they could find some heavy machinery at work because what could possibly make Levon happier? I talked to the birthday boy and said, "Happy birthday, Levon!" and he said, "Happy birthday!"

Here are a few pictures.

Birthday treats!

And back home to move some dirt with what I presume is a new dump truck.

Hopefully, I'll see them tomorrow and give him our present then. I got August some books, too, because it's hard to be five and not get presents when your brother gets presents.

And it's just been a good day. Last night I went into the Glen Den to find this going on.

Little girl was happy to be sitting with her man-human. Or, as we call him in regards to her- Daddy. I know. It's so silly. And yet, here we are, senior citizens who call each other Mommy and Daddy around the cats. At least we don't call each other that if the cats aren't involved in whatever it is we're talking about.
Because that's just CRAZY.

And I had that walk, which was nice, and made me feel as if I'd done something and I rid the world of two campaign signs for the Orange Pretender. I found little tiny Tweety on the nest in the pump house.

That was not her egg.

There's her egg at the top in the basket along with four others, some arugula and various basils. We're having pizza tonight.
I did a little weeding in the garden. Here is what the most micro of micro celery looks like.

We'll see how that goes. It's not really the right time of year to grow it but what the hell?

And all is well here in my little world. Let us ignore the gaslighting being attempted by the current occupant and focus on the fact that Biden and Harris are getting their ducks all in a row so that when the federal agents have to come and remove DT from the White House, all will be in readiness.
You know what I keep thinking? That at least Melania is not going to have to decorate the White House for "fucking Christmas" this year.
Bless her heart.

Here's a very small tree frog I took a picture of last night.

Isn't it adorable?

And in one last bit of news, there is a tropical storm in the gulf again, picking up steam and force, which will most certainly affect us one way or another by the end of the week. The forecasts are all over the map, quite literally, but we're going to get something. Y'all tired of hearing about hurricanes?
ME TOO!

Hoo boy.

Time to make the pizza.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. Lovely Little Levon Helm! Happy Birthday to You! And don't worry, Grandmaw will not be arrested for disposing of the Trump signs because nobody is going to tell on her.

    1. It would be pretty weird if I got sent to jail for ripping down campaign signs after the election was over.

  2. Did I see a purple egg? We're not allowed to have chickens in our little community, but I'd keep one in the house if I could get colored eggs!! Oh, and I love ALL your birthing stories. Welcome home, Maurice!!

    1. Those eggs are sort of pink. And yeah, a little purplish. The photo makes them look more purple than they are but they are very pretty.

  3. i too am impressed by the color of the eggs in your life, Martha's pale in comparison. Oh my, little Levon turning to be a big three, slow it down! Three is such a perfect age- old enough to not tantrum everywhere and young enough to not be a sassy pants. Yet.
Melania can just go back to her gold toilet in NYC, if she is allowed back into the state that is- NYC not fans of the family of grifters. Christmas will be just fine without her crazy black decor. Such a freak!
I am so proud of you for dumping the signs! Well done

    1. Oh, Levon can be a sassy pants and you've never seen anything until you've seen a small boy wearing a dress and yelling at his mother because she won't let him do something. He's a beast, that little boy!
I have a feeling the Trumps will be moving into Mar-a-Lago unless DT flees the country to avoid prosecution. I bet you that Melania won't be moving with him, though, wherever he goes. But we'll see. She is a freak.

    2. It was such a beautiful birth. It really was.
I'm not sure which hen is laying that egg. Perhaps Eggy Tina or Eggy Nancy. I have fourteen laying hens now and it's harder to ID each and every one.

Levon adores getting dirty. Don't most of us?

    1. Oh, god. We haven't gotten any yet but I swear I can feel the...calm before the storm? There's just a hurricane-y feeling to it here now. We'll see how that develops.

  11. Happy birthday to darling Levon! The colors of those eggs are so delicate and wonderful! I think everyone’s feeling a bit more spry with trump voted out. His last gasp isn’t pretty.

  12. Levon is gorgeous in his fourth year on the planet! And it just feels so good to be alive these last few days. No matter what happens, we have felt good for the first time in years.

  13. Happy birthday Levon! It's hard to believe he's outside in a pair of shorts when we're scraping ice off our cars but it wouldn't be good if we were all the same would it. And well done for taking down those signs. I suppose you're still in bed right at the time I'm writing this but the tangerine buffoon is now claiming they held back the vaccine so he couldn't take credit for it. Another day, another zinger from the deranged one!

    1. How in the world does that shithead think he can claim any vaccine? He doesn't know a test tube from a coke bottle, bacteria from viruses.
If you were here, you'd be wearing shorts too. It's freaking hot.

  15. I wonder if we will ever reach a time when hurricanes happen ALL year?

I'm glad you're maintaining a light heart about Trump's posturing. It's filling me with dread, though that's partly because I've been reading scary things on right-wing news sites. Dave said I'm not allowed to read them any more. LOL

    Happy birthday to Levon!

    1. Oh, and bravo to you for tearing down those signs. As you said, they're not supposed to be on public property anyway.

    2. Yeah. Quit reading that bullshit. It's bound to mess with your head. Although I could be just sticking MY head in the sand.
I laid down another Trump sign today. It feels SO good.

  16. Happy Birthday, Levon! Love your new truck.

Had to laugh at the comment about not calling each other mommy or daddy when the cats aren't around. My DH's grandparents (v. hardy Vermonters, now long gone) always seemed to refer to each other as Mother and Father. As in "Mother, where's supper?" Not carrying on that tradition...for sure.

    1. I can distinctly remember my grandfather saying, "Oh, Mother, you're so cute," and knowing even then that he was being condescending. But yes, he called her "Mother." And she called him "James" which was his name.

Start slow with the garden. You know how overwhelming it can get. It's been so helpful to have Glen around to do the heavy work on ours.

  19. Levon is such a Handsome Child, I hope his Birthday was lots of Fun, when they're 3 they can make anything Joyful though! The biggest petulant Child is in the WH, he never grew up and matured enough to act like a Man and the coddling of him is just ridiculous. If you can get to be over 70 and still need to be coddled like a Child, Holy Hell, how exhausting for anyone and everyone around you!
