Mr. Rabbath has asked me to please, if I didn't mind, ask any of you who have watched Disconnected and who liked it, to please share it around.

You know, it's funny. I know a man who calls himself a film-maker and he has oodles of the very, very best in equipment and he's always talking about raising money here and raising money there and getting interest from this person or that for the movie he is going to make...some day... and I know this is how it's done but really?
Freddie just takes that camera out there and he has a story and he films it.
And he puts it up and makes nothing on it and he is doing it. He is not talking about it. He is doing it.
That impresses the hell out of me.
So- there you have it. And I swear- I would have posted this even if he hadn't told me today that he thinks I am a very fine actor and that if he ever makes it in the movie business and has lots of money he'll HIRE me to act in his movies.
I swear. That did not influence me AT ALL!
(Was that okay, Freddie? Now hurry up and get rich and famous because I ain't getting any younger and I sure ain't getting any cuter.)

ReplyDeleteI'll do it! Also, he may already know about this, but there is a group called Market Done. They are local and have meetings every other month for local entrepreneurs... it may be a good way to get the word out and create some buzz.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the acting school here in town CAST Studios may be a good hook up for him. The lady's name is Shauna Bartel and her website is: http://www.shaunabartel.com/ They may be able to work together to provide him actors or maybe he wants to speak to the class about film and then... you know plug himself! That didn't sound right... but you know what I mean.

ReplyDeleteI have a friend who is on the verge of selling a feature film script, and she crams all her fulltime job into four days so she can write on Fridays and the weekend. She told me that she went to a script writer's workshop thingy last year and met a handful of soulful looking people who were still rewriting the same script after five years or so and complaining about lack of funding and sitting around smoking cigarillos and drinking espressos and painting their fingernails black (ok that last bit I made up).
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it's fantastic to see someone with so much energy and drive to get his film together despite the hurdles...
I'm still trying to fix the speakers on the computer so for the moment I can only watch the great camera work and atmosphere and Ms Moon, putting in what looks like a great performance. Who IS that man yelling at you in the kitchen? It looks so convincing, I got all tense and wanted to leap to your defence.
