Beautiful mother, beautiful baby. Twenty-four years ago today, the mother's mother birthed HER. Twenty-four years which seems about five minutes ago.

Beautiful father, beautiful son.

Aunt Jessie holding her nephew.

Grandma Mary and her angel grandson.

Yes, he can fuss. Yes, his mama can comfort him.

My two beautiful loves.

Do you want to know how happy I am?

I can't even begin to tell you. That's how happy.

  2. Nice pictures Mama. Today was so great seeing him as a real human baby! Lily is doing so wonderful- nursing and learning not to change his clothes if he really doesn't need it. Haha. He does make a fuss about that- I don't blame him.

  4. Oh, oh.

He's so BIG! As a friend of mine once remarked, 'Get that child a schoolbag!'

He's so big and strong. No wonder she had to work hard.

I can't believe that a woman who laboured for two days could look that beautiful and glowing so soon after having her baby. I do not see the exhaustion!

And what a sweet Daddy baby photo. And all the rest of you, gooing, I'm jealous!

    Happy birthday, Lily! Sniff!

  6. Incredible. Why is it that all newborn babies, who resemble each other remarkably, spark easy tears of joy? Your family looks incredibly happy -- and I'm happy, too. Just looking at it all.

  7. Lora- Thank-you. And you KNOW from beautiful babies.

HoneyLuna- Isn't it funny how he's already made our family even closer? How we all have this huge heart-focus? How he already knows what he likes and doesn't like? How he's already made us all love each other even more? Damn.
    Love you, baby...Mama

Sally Moon- I know. I just want to SWALLOW him.

Ms. Jo- When Lily was in labor I thought of all the people so far away who were giving her love and sending her such good energy. And I was thinking of you. Thank-you. Now get those kids of yours grown up so you can have GRAND CHILDREN!

    Juancho- Thank-you, darling. Just...thank-you.

EIlizabeth- You know our nurse angel was named Elizabeth. I have so many angels in my life named Elizabeth.
We are so directed by our DNA to love newborns and to want to protect and take care of them and see them as the most precious and valuable things in the universe. I know that, and yet, here I am, saying, "This is the most beautiful and valuable thing in the universe aned I must take care of him." And cry? Oh girl, I cried so much today that it gave me a headache.

  15. There is absolutely nothing in this world that I know of like that first day, when a baby becomes a real thing, no longer a hope but a reality of what life means. I wish for all of you to keep this day in your hearts. I left something for him on my blog. Just read it to him as if it were your own words, he will understand.

  16. That's EXACTLY what I was thinking about the grandchildren :)

  17. Your joy as a family is so beautiful. It makes me cry, it's so beautiful. And it makes me cry because I'm sad that my own children weren't welcomed so warmly. I need to work thru that, so thank you for the reminder.

I am so happy that your family is all well and happy.

  20. Oh my goodness. He is beautiful. I cannot believe it. Which is exactly what I kept saying when my own big boy was born and they put him in my arms.

And you know what? Owen is our name too. My husband's last name, my son's, and well I sort of use it too. I am so proud of you all. Well done.

  31. My God... I never thought that I'd be able to see any other child that struck me as my own Harley.. because he is mine, but... Oh, this boy. I can't even look at him without tearing.

I was in Publix yesterday and had to stop myself from skipping down the aisles yelling Lily and Jason did so good!!! The did SO GOOD!! Did you all get the news!?? I had to mention something to the lady who checked me out, and as I suspected, they had heard.... and began eagerly discussing when Lily will be back. I got the feeling her presence is missed by all.
    xoxo me
