From The Sublime To The Truly Disgusting

This beauty just fully opened today. I love it so very, very much. It is the definition of pink and the definition of delicate and the definition of simple elegance.
If you ask me.
Last year I thought I'd identified it but when I double checked that today, I decided that I was wrong. It's close, but that isn't it. I've used the online camellia identifier search but it comes up with zero suggestions. I've used Google image search.
Nada.
I've used my plant ID app and it just calls it a camellia which of course I know already.
So for now, she shall remain nameless.
And shameless in her glory.

Owen has been here most of the day and I love having him here. He is so helpful. And it makes me so happy when he says, "I love being here!" and I know he means it.
The plan for the fellas getting work done has gone a bit awry although they did get our new bed on a frame. More on that later.
What they HAVE done is to go and buy a virtual reality device thing that they have figured out and enjoyed immensely.

They wanted me to try it and I did and for a few moments I was underwater, surrounded by sharks. It was scary awesome. I can't describe the level of reality there. I'm not sure what all they've done but dancing with a robot is one thing for sure. This seems to be quite enjoyable and I won't make any judgements about that until I, too, have danced with a robot.

Like I said they got a frame under our bed. They went back upstairs and took the frame from underneath our old bed and brought it down, set it up, and put the new bed on it. It is now a good height for my husband although I may need little pet steps to get in bed. We haven't actually been sleeping on it because of a lot of details that no one needs to hear about but tonight we'll be back in there and Owen will be sleeping in the middle bedroom where we've been sleeping. I dusted the furniture in there and it's pretty cozy.

I still need to move some pictures back into that room. The ones that I cherish and seem to need around me as I sleep.

Right now Owen and Boppy are building a fire outside to cook the steaks on. I love watching them do things together. It just makes my heart so happy. I have made yet another loaf of sourdough which is about to go into the oven. I will be air frying the onion rings and cooking artichokes. I hope the boy will be pleased.

Oh! One more thing- I decided to truly give the refrigerator that's waiting for its new compressor a real cleaning today and I'm so glad I did. It was getting quite stinky in there and I've even been leaving the doors to it open. When I pulled out one of the freezer drawers I discovered the definite source of the stink.
Some packages of ground venison had gotten trapped between the drawer and the freezer.
You don't want to know.
Luckily they'd been vacuum sealed so they hadn't leaked but the wrapping was not odor-proof.
Ooh boy.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. Oh man, I would love to be a kid at your house. You have everything desirable. Those luck lucky children! Not sure I want to swim with sharks even in pretend world. - on second thought , I
am sure! No pretend danger of any sort. My old heart just can't.

    1. Linda Sue- it wasn't scary. It was amazing! Plus, you know- you do realize it's not real. Now the roller coaster one? Maybe not. Somehow I'm going to figure out how to watch a Rolling Stones concert with that damn thing.

  2. I love the comment about maybe needing the pet steps to get into the bed! My own is a platform bed with a box spring on top and a mattress in top of that. Easy to get out, because I'm stepping down, not struggling to stand up. But getting in, now that I've lost height, involves a little backward jump to clear the mattress. Which triggers insane giggles every time. Maybe I should consider pet steps, too.

    1. The idea of you giggling every night as you get in bed gave me a little giggle too! I don't really need pet steps but I do have to sort of hoist a hip up there. The slide down is easy. And it's nice on the back when I make the bed.

  3. My bed needs a stool to step up into. Doable. Your new bed is lovely.

  4. I love getting to see bits and pieces of your house in the different photos you post. I like looking at other people's house, especially at night, when the lights are on inside.

I'm glad you found that meat before it had gotten worse.

    1. I like to see into other people's houses too. I always have. I've often wondered if I should have been a realtor because then you can be really nosy!
I am so damn glad I found that meat. Phew.

  5. You had another nice day, apart from the stinky fridge. I'm glad that is done. Enjoy the new bed and bedroom.

  6. your *new* bedroom looks vey inviting....save for *leaping* into a high bed LOL! Cleaning out a fridge is never fun......... and bless Owen....dear soul....for brightening your day all around. Sourdough.....I've never *done*, but I follow your dialogue on that. One of our neighbors gave us a gorgeous loaf of her sourdough for Christmas....... she promised to not only give me some of her starter, but to give me a tutorial on it.......and I am so looking forward to that! It is not really *sour* as I find most store bought to be........but very delicate. I can't wait!

    1. You know- you can make your own starter. I did! Just google it. I used the instructions on the King Arthur website, I think. I mean, the air is simply filled with yeast and all you have to do is set out some food for it and it happily settles in. It's so cool in my opinion. But if your neighbor wants to give you some- take it!

    1. I understand nothing about this but I do know that those very few moments surrounded by sharks "underwater" is something I keep thinking about over and over. It was really amazing.

  9. Oh, yikes. Glad you got that venison out of there! I have never tried one of those virtual reality things, but I don't really desire to. I have enough trouble coping with ACTUAL reality.

  10. Wow! That is a big room with high ceilings that Owen is in. Are those critters that Mr. Moon caught and had stuffed?
Happy New Year to you and your whole family! Hope 2022 brings fun adventures, good health, and lots of love!

    1. We do have very high ceilings in this old house. They were built to stay cool before there was electricity or AC. And yes, those are definitely Glen's critters. That is the Glen Den.
Best wishes to you and yours for New Year's too!

  11. Know what you mean about a high bed...although I can still get a leg up on mine. Really appreciate not having to climb up out of the bed as one must with low beds. Prefer just sliding off the side onto my feet. Especially when doing a night hikes to the bathroom. :)

Happy New Year to you and all the many Moons.

    1. You are so right about the slide down. And honestly, it's a very good height for my very tall man.
Happy New Year to you, Mary.
