The rain is coming down hard and it's black as night and I guess it is still night, technically, although it's morning, sure.
Dreaming, dreaming, I was dreaming, living in a city, no idea how to get where I was supposed to go, no idea how to get into my building (my building!) when I finally got there and crying, "I'm supposed to live in the country! With chickens!"
Very soon I'll have to get dressed to go to town in this rain to meet up with my daughter, her husband, her son, her baby, to be the mama of the mama, to offer nothing but moral support. I remember when May was tiny and had to have surgery for an inguinal hernia repair and my husband and I were so lost in those bright fluorescent lights in the waiting room, so fearful for our baby and a woman I knew who worked in the hospital found us to tell us that all would be well. She promised. She was right. She was an angel.

Step right up, this is all life, and the thunder cracks and we are family and my husband is already at Lily's house to take care of Gibson and my rooster crows, trying to get the sun up, and this cat is weaving his way around my feet, knocking off my slippers and I should eat something.

Good morning. Let Owen be well, let us all be safe, me, you, all of us.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. All the best for a successful day all around! The morning here started just minutes ago with the whole world tinted pink- the cloudy sky, the snowy everything else...

  2. I'm sure all will go well today, but a grandma's angst is real. When my now teenaged grandson had to have emergency surgery at the age of 29 days old, I wanted to walk right into the OR with him! As for the weather....ARRRRRGH! We're wintering on the Gulf side, and it's been raining and windy since 1:30 am. Since we're in a fifth wheel, we don't like high winds. I do, however, love the sound of the rain on the roof. I've been out of bed for an hour, and really want to crawl back under the covers. Sending good thoughts your way for today!

  4. when my son was 9 months old he had to have emergency surgery for an intussusception. that's when the small intestine gets sucked into the large intestine. very scary. a comforting mother would have been nice to have. Owen will have a grand tale to tell at school.
