Either This Or Maybe That Or Maybe None Of That At All

Back from a walk and I could no more imagine doing it than I could yesterday but thankfully, it really does not require imagination to take a walk. You just put on your shoes and open the door and step through it. Take another step. Etc.
Bam.
Done.
Probably most things, or at least many, are much the same. Keep the imagination out of the way and just step out the door. Wearing the proper shoes, of course.

Maybe instead of anti-anxiety medications, we need anti-imagination medications. Maybe we need believe-in-magic medications. Maybe we need have-faith-in-a-higher-power medications. Maybe we need give-it-all-to-god medications. Maybe we need amnesia medications.
Or maybe all we need to do is go to church or meditate or do yoga or plant a garden or join a choir or do cross-fit or drink green tea.

I don't fucking know.

I just know that some times are harder than others and I am the first to agree that the person who makes my hard times harder than others is none other than me, myself.

Well, not to be all existential or anything but I have some thinking to do.

I'll try not to use my imagination. Or hell, maybe I'll try to use it in new and fabulous ways.

I'll let you know if I discover the secret of the universe or something.

Meanwhile, one foot in front  of the other.
Etc.
I'm not even going to worry about the shoes. Sometimes it's best just to go barefoot, the better for your toes to clutch the ground.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. Mary, can I tell you how much I love every word of this post? And that open the door and take a step advice? Well, it has come closer than anything else is encouraging me to go walking today. I love you, woman.

  2. I think you're right about the walking. Definitely let us know if you find the secret of the universe.

  3. That is the secret. That, absolutely. I so often have to do that on my run. Tell myself to trust the universe, that I will not have a heart attack. That all I need to do is run the next meter, and surely I can do that. Not to think about the whole run. It IS the secret.

  4. So sorry about Elvis. This is the first time I've been able to offer my condolences.

  5. Going barefoot depends on the ground otherwise it's good not to think too much before taking the next step...

  6. One foot in front of the other. Definitely. That's all any of us can do!

(There's a lot of freedom in saying "I don't fucking know," isn't there?)

  7. when we would complain about an impossible task my father would tell us it's just like walking to Galveston (an hour away by car), you just put one foot in front of the other. I don't know what I'm doing most of the time but it doesn't stop me from getting in there and mucking around.

  8. Yes to all of it. I think about this all the time. I have no answers. Maybe that's a better place to be than the place where you think you have the answers. Because no one ever really does. Right? Maybe.
