I Told You Today Would Be Better

Dear god. I was like a normal person today. I got shit DONE. I got shit done I didn't need to do. Such as buy a pair of shoes. Which I don't really need but I did it and I am very happy with them. They're some of those hybrid atheltic/darling shoes. You know what I'm talking about? And quite frankly, they look a hell of a lot like my Mary Jane Crocs and I realized today while looking at clothes (another thing I did not need to do) that at this point in my life I am attracted to things which look like things I either already have or used to have.
La-di-dah. I have my own style and I'm fifty-eight years old and I'm not about to start getting jiggy with it.

So there.

I saw Billy and got a great, wonderful Billy hug. I went to the library. I got a book written by Johnny Weismuller's son. Those of you who have been around for awhile know of my great love for Johnny Weismuller. I fell in love with him when I was a mere baby-child watching him in Tarzan movies. Here's why!

Hot, hot, hotty-hot. And he could fucking talk to animals! Get out! Love.
Anyway, the book's title is Tarzan, My Father. I hope it doesn't totally destroy my opinion of Johnny, my hot, hot, hotty-hot love.

I got other books too. And I went back to the nursery where I bought seeds a few weeks ago and then left them there. I got my plants home but not my seeds. The girl remembered me and let me have some more seeds. No problem. Local business is where it's at. You think Lowe's would have done that? Doubt it.

I did some other stuff too. It was awesome. I held conversations with strangers. I purchased things. I did not weep one time. Really, in my world- that's about as good as it gets.

I got a call from Lis while I was out. We are NOT staying at the condo but at the camp where the wedding is to be held. We'll be baking the cake in the industrial camp kitchen. This is fine with me although I'll be sad about not having a kava bar downstairs.
I imagine I'll live. Plus, we'll be in the woods. Which will be lovely.

So it's been a good day. And it's Friday so...time for a martini with Mr. Moon. He's out collecting eggs right now. I bought him a pair of black overalls for Christmas and he is wearing them. He's hot, hot, hotty-hot too. He doesn't really talk to animals, though. Well, he does yell at Buster to GO POOP! quite frequently when he takes him outside. And he'd kill a crocodile if one was attacking me. I feel certain he would.
I'm a lucky woman.

Y'all have a good evening.
I will too.

  1. I see a direct line from Tarzan to killing crocodiles.
    Hope you're enjoying that martini!

  3. Words cannot tell how much I love this post. I always loved Johnny too, from a little girl. He loved and respected the animals, and he tried so hard in his Tarzan way to make Jane happy :)

This part: I did some other stuff too. It was awesome. I held conversations with strangers. I purchased things. I did not weep one time. Really, in my world- that's about as good as it gets. I understand completely.

I think next week will rank up there among your most memorable, maybe even the cake baking at the camp. Like I said, I'm really excited!

I'm so glad you had a good day. Me too. Thank goodness for them and for hot-hot hotties in black overalls! Happy Friday. xo

  4. Love this, even though I am but a whippersnapper, and don't remember hotty-hot Tarzan.

PS -potpie was delish. I took it to work and it was gone in seconds. You were right -cooking the vegetables before the oven did make them turn out better.

  9. Ah, you know I shared your childhood love of Tarzan. Isn't it great that they were on for me too, so far away in Ireland and 20 years later?

Mary, you know that having many identical outfits just makes you Batman? It's all good.

  10. Denise- Girl. You know I did.

Birdie- Nope. He trotted on down the road. Fuck him.

Mel- I KNOW it's going to be one of the most memorable weeks of my life. What could be better than helping Lis make a cake in the woods and celebrating Jessie and Vergil's wedding? It's going to be good.

SJ- I think if you had thrown in the vegetables still frozen they might have gotten watery. I'm glad it turned out so nicely. You should find and watch some old Tarzan movies with Johnny. Yes. They were so corny but they were so beautiful, too.

Kelly M- Every night before bed. "Poop! Buster! Poop."

Steve Reed- It seems to be necessary to prevent hallway poopage.

Sweet Jo- The parade was a very lovely event. Thank you, honey.

Syd- He was just so damn cool, wasn't he? And that tree house he built for his love...oh. Perfect.

Jo- Ha! Batman! I'm glad you got to love Tarzan too. Did you read any of the original books? They are amazing.
