What Fall Looks Like, 2010

These were gathered on my walk today. Fall is more full of blooming here than spring and we are especially rich in yellows, lavenders, and purples.

The sky gives a perfect backdrop- blue as the eyes of the sapphires, if sapphires only had eyes.

My hand smells of pine sap because I carried that tiny sprig of pine for a mile or more. Spicy perfume.

And now to town where I am going to meet Lily and Owen and Jessie too and tonight they and Jason are all coming for supper and to stay over. Lily and Jason have to be at work early, early, and so it's easier not to have to wake the boy to bring him here in the dark before-dawn hour.
I am excited they are all coming. I made the soup last night, the bread dough too.
And Pop-Pop will be home as well.

Sweetness on this fall day. Such excellent sweetness.

  1. It is a sweet day here as well. First fireplace fire of the year. It was chilly this morning.

  2. Love the bouquet you collected for this sweet day. Have fun with those kids. Every time I see Owen waving me in to your blog it makes me smile. Give him extra kisses for me. x0 N2

  3. I have a few pine sapped t-shirts. It tends to stick & stay, at least a remnant, even after Shouting it out.
I'll live with that. I love the smell. We can't always be burdened by practicality.

New to your blog so I will look around. ~Mary

  7. Lovely arrangement. Fall has a beauty here too, if you like asters and goldenrod! I love your purples.
