Caution! Partial Nudity!

This'll be a short one because I'm going to the hospital with Kathleen today. Judy and I will be accompanying her for her third chemo.

While I'm there I may try to find someone to deliver this alien which is inside my body trying to itch its way out to be born. Seriously. This is some welt. I have no idea what bit me but whatever it was, it was wicked. Maybe it's just a chigger. I'm hoping. And if you can't tell, that's my right upper hip on the outside part. I guess my flank? Do people have flanks?

I don't know. But anyway, that's where I'll be, in the chemo ward.
We'll be chatting up a storm, I'm sure, meeting the people who share the room getting chemo of their own. Everyone has a story, you can bet on that.

It's cool today and we slept with the windows open.
Joys.

Have a few yourself.

Love...Ms. Moon (and her alien baby)

  1. I hope it's not one of those bugs that lays its eggs in you. Ugh!

  2. Jesus, Mary. It's not some sort of spider bite is it? Lordy.

    Love you!

    Good morning, Hank.

  3. I had one like that on my arm that wouldn't go away. It was a couple weeks! It's finally gone down now, but it's still red. I think mine was a spider.

  4. I think you would have felt a spider bite--pretty painful. Could be a chigger or even a tick that became unseized in your flank. Itching bites drive me crazy.

  5. Hug Kathleen for us. You're a great friend to go with her to chemo and I know she's more at peace for having you there. It's a hard thing to do alone.

Looks spider-bite-ish to me. You've scrubbed it with antiseptic and put medicine or a poultice or something on it? Not that anything will change the bite but it always feels good to do something.

  6. Marie gets a welt like that each time a mosquito stings her. And they LIKE her. They only sting her in this house.

  7. Yes, give Kathleen extra hugs for us. So glad she has a good friend like you to sit with her.

I'm jumping on the spider bite train here. I had one earlier this summer that did hang on for a while, but eventually just drained away.

I would recommend putting a plantain poultice on it, to soothe, get the swelling to down and to draw out any bug juice. It is a common plant (weed) in the garden and/or lawn. Here's a link to a blog with good pictures of what to look for: http://www.5orangepotatoes.com/blog/2009/09/01/plantain-insect-sting-and-bite-remedy/

She also has a tincture recipe, but that would take awhile to get potent (1 week). Just chop it up, pour boiling water over it in a pot, let cool and apply the leaves and/or tea to your bite.

Feel better, Dear. Kathleen needs you to help her hang in there. x0 N2

  8. I hate any bug bite. Ice and neosporene (?) antibiotic ointment. Take care of Miss Kathleen, you are such a kind friend.

  9. I will not offer any medical advice since I'm off duty but I will take the road less traveled and compliment you.

Your flank is pretty hot and I don't mean in the angry, red way. Hubba hubba.

  10. I can't speak for everyone else but I definitely have flanks.

    Hope it's not too itchy-scratchy.

  11. If it gets pussy it might be a staph abscess. That's pus-y. As in full of pus. Not pussy. As in you know what.

  12. DTG- Nope. Pretty sure it's an alien.

    Ms. Bastard-Beloved- It's worse today.

Stephanie- It might be a spider. Who knows?

Syd-"a tick that became unseized in your flank"
    YUCK!

Kathleen- I went with some Benedryl cream. It did not help.

    Mwa- Poor baby girl!

N2- I'm not sure we have plantain. I do have comfrey though. That might help.

    Ellen- Good idea!

    Ms. Trouble- Ooh. Thank-you!

Lisa- Sisters-in-flanks? It takes a lot of self-control not to scratch the living hell out of it.

Michelle- Since I am a registered nurse, I know the difference. You made me laugh.
