Twitter This

Here's Mr. Moon on the front porch last night. We actually got dressed up, had a drink, then went into town for supper. It was lovely.

Here I am.

We used to go out every Friday night of the year. It probably saved our marriage if not our lives when the kids were small. But now it's ridiculously difficult to make ourselves leave Lloyd to drive into town on a beautiful Friday night. I mean, here we are in the setting sun with the oak trees and the whole yard to walk around and admire and Mr. Moon does not think that restaurants do any better with food preparation than I do but once in a blue moon, it's a good thing to get dressed up and let someone else cook. Besides, it's nice to feel like a girl once in awhile. To shuck the overalls and put on a dress.

We went to Kool Beanz, of course, and ran into some neighbors of ours that we never see. They invited us to come have supper with them on Sunday and I'm really looking forward to that and I hope they haven't woken up this morning and said to each other, "Jesus. Did we invite the Moons over for supper on Sunday night? What were we thinking?"

Anyway, we had a very lovely time out and a wonderful meal and we didn't have to wash the dishes and then we came home and looked at our chickens and patted the dogs and told them to shut up and then we went to bed where I dreamed I was dancing with Garrison Keillor and then I dreamed I was engaged to an old high school boyfriend who was apparently filthy rich but I was not at all sure it was going to work out, although his family did own an island. (And no, L7, it was not you.)

But I'd like to say something about Twittering. What's up with that? I freely admit I'm addicted to the blog but do we need to know when someone is at the grocery store and is having a hard time deciding between pasta and rice? Or whatever it is they Twitter about. I saw a thing in the paper today where a church in North Carolina encouraged their "worshipers" to get on their wireless devices and Twitter and e-mail their friends about the religious experience they were having right there in church that second on Easter Sunday.
I'm sorry but sometimes? Churches just make it too easy to make fun of them.
Jesus. Twittering.
What more do I need to say?

I will say there was twittering at the Moon household on Easter Sunday but it all came from the new baby chickens. Actually, it was more like cheeping.
Unless it was the twittering the kids were doing when Mr. Moon and I kissed in the kitchen.

Or more likely, they were too busy putting shrimp salad on their plates to even notice.

Whatever. Happy weekend, y'all.
Twitter away in whatever form that takes for you.
I'm going to go get in the dirt and listen to the birds twitter.
I don't know what they're saying but I'm pretty sure it's something like, "Hey guys! Here's a bug!"
Which is about as important as any Twitter I can think of and they don't even need a device.

Love...Ms. Moon

  2. I don't get "twittering" either. It just seems like a half-assed combination of blogging and text messaging.

  3. Ms. Jo- It was!

Jon- Totally agree. This too, shall pass.

  4. I'm so glad that you guys went on a date. When I was little, I loved it when you two got all dressed up and went out. It made me feel good, and I think it still has that effect on me, because it is all about me. Right? Hah

  5. I refuse to twitter. Besides, I'm not even sure what it is. At my age, I don't want to risk breaking a hip.
I also don't text, but I think if I could learn how to do that, and if it wasn't too expensive, I might try it.

  7. I love going out with Jeremiah by ourselves, it's something we don't get to do all that often. We have a hard time finding a sitter! So we take the baby with us...he's been to more restaurants and 'date spots' in his 18 months then I have in my newly minted 28 years.

  8. Ahh, I remember being twenty eight and having one portable baby. Good days!

Ms Moon, these are great photos. I feel moved to say that Mr. Moon looks Youthful and Handsome.

There's definitely a healthy outdoor AND inner glow there!

  9. HoneyLuna- It's always about ourselves. That's all there is to it! Do you still crave delivery pizza on Friday nights?

MOB- Me too. But honestly, I know if I started Twittering, there would be no end to it.

    Learner- See above.

Erin- We forced family members into baby-sitting. But yes, they all came with us for many years. Good times...

Ms. Jo- Isn't he handsome? I'm so lucky.

  12. Is it odd that I reckon Mr Moon is a 'good sort' just by the photo?

  13. I freely admit that I use Facebook and the "status update" feature is sort of like Twitter...I guess. I have to Twitter for work, my boss wants us to be hip =) But I hate it. As much as I am a socially-networked twentysomething, having one more "mechanism" to put myself out there is just too much for me. It's being used alot in government, and also in businesses, and I think it will evolve (if it isn't already) into something like that, moreso than individual users treating it as a means to keep socially connected.

SJ- We're getting weird, aren't we?

  15. We were talking about twittering the other day, and my step-father asked what it was in past tense. He surmised that it must be twatting. Of course, we laughed for about five minutes after that.

  16. Ginger- "Twatting"? That's too good. Yeah. I don't Twitter. I twat." Heh-heh.

  17. Oh. A rare moment of disagreement from one of your dear readers.

    I

    Love

    Twitter.

I can't write anywhere as much as I want to. It's time way more than inclination. Sometimes something funny or tragic I don't have the hours to give blog justice to I tweet.

It's a nice way of staying in touch too. I have friends from last years Tallahassee visit on Twitter and I love seeing what people are up to without having to wait for an updated blog...

  19. Fat Lad- Secretly I know that if I started Twittering, there would be no end to it. None at all.

Ample- Well, we sure used to be. We're still kind of cute for old folks.

  21. Very lovely photos! I don't know what's more divine, the two of you all dressed up or that breath taking porch. You are truely surrounded by beautiful things!

My friend and I were joking about twitter the other day and he said that we should come up with a porn site called 'twatter'. He looked it up. It totally already exists. I'll be damned.

  22. Lady Lemon- Why am I not surprised?
