I Don't Care If She Does Love Jesus, She's A Damn Good Writer

The above picture is of an author named Anne Lamott whom I've written about. I like her because she's someone whose heart is fearless and true and open and searching, whose soul is obviously as tear-stained as any you'll ever meet, and whose writing is, despite being written with Jesus-colored ink, mighty fine.

She's written a piece about this upcoming election for Salon and if you'd like to read it, click here. It'll be worth your while.

Thank-you very much.

P.S. I'd just copy and paste but somehow that doesn't seem fair. Go read it where they paid her to write it. I think that's what Jesus would do.

  6. Some of my best friends love Jesus!
Do you use canned chicken stock in your soup or do you make your own stock?

  7. Hmmmm. I love all you people who live in states beginning with a vowel.
MOB- my stock is what is created by cooking the chicken with the onion and garlic and celery. It goes from there. Layers.

  10. I think my favorite of hers, though, is Operating Instructions. It is painful to read at some points, but it is beautiful.

  11. Thanks Ms. Moon, most of Ohio has power now. But, I'm sure we could use some chicken soup if you are still overstocked.
and @LOPO...Hocking Hills and Wayne Nat. Forest are my favorite places to find beauty and rest.

  13. Oh my god, ms moon. I did NOT know that you read Anne; did you knwo that she is my best friend? Or would be, if she knew me, because we are so much alike. Operating Instructions was so, so good, and so were most of her other books. Sigh...I love you even more now.

  14. Kori- I should have and would have figured that. I like her nonfiction much better than her fiction and yes, Operating Instructions was genius.
