The Show Will Go On

Well, here we all are, almost. I am taking the picture so I'm not in it. Nor am I in any of these, but from left to right, that's Marcy, our Southern Belle , Pat, our elegant scientist, Colin, our Budly Studly, Kathleen our director, in the back, Jan and Jack on the couch (our lovers) and Judy in the background. She is our stage manager. Missing from the picture is Denise, our amazing prop woman.
Isn't the set pretty?

The men steal the show and rightfully so. Here are Colin and Jack, weeping after they've taken Venusia, a pill intended to help menopausal women with their libidos, but which, if taken by men, cause menopausal symptoms. They thought they were taking Viagra because they needed fire in their loins.

I don't think I need to say a word about this couple. But I will. Aren't they darling?

Colin and Marcy in the throes of passion. Or something very much like that. Could they be any cuter? I doubt it.

And finally, Judy, Kathleen and Denise and the glowing orbs which always show up in pictures of the Opera House. Of course they are merely dust particles but as I have pointed out before, if dust truly is mainly made of skin cells, then yes, they are ghosts in a way, of all the people who have acted and played and recited and watched at the old Opera House in Monticello where I have been so very, very lucky to play with such lovely people. And they are dressed like that because yes, it is that cold backstage.

All right. I have a lot to do before I paint my face tonight and step onstage and say, "You don't remember me," to Colin, right before he ends up with his face in my crotch. After we get that scene over with, it's all gravy for me.
Well. Sort of.

Thanks for all the good wishes. I wish you ALL were going to be there. I honestly do. Wouldn't that be lovely for me to look out from beneath the lights and see all of you there? It would make me terrified, but it would make me happy.

Have a wonderful Friday, y'all.
Love...Ms. Moon

  9. Funny, the first two things I said when I saw the first picture was "Wow! Great set! Is that the set?" and "Where the hell is Mary?? She must have been taking the picture". It's weird to have your questions answered for you in such a manner.

Relax, break appendages and stop by for a dose of happy if you want it.

  11. Wonderful set -- and how exciting! I miss my days of being on stage, but now work as a background extra in films (the tax incentive has brought lots of films to Michigan). There's nothing like the sense of teamwork you get when you're pulling together with the crew and fellow actors. Break a leg!

  12. The best send-off from my days on stage:

    BREAK A LEG!

  13. I'll be thinking of you tonight, Ms. Moon, and sending all the best wishes in the universe your way. I had no idea that there is such a pill (know some who could use it, both women and men, the men just so they stop rolling their eyes at the women's claims of how bad menopause is).

  14. Jo- Thank-you! I think Kathleen made her fantasy B&B which is better than a real one because you don't have to deal with actual strangers in your house.

    Danielle- Eventually.

Just Kate- I wish I was more excited and less damn nervous.

LuluMarie- Nope. Can't have too many.

    Nicol- I do love it.

Bethany- I wish you could be there because it would make you laugh. And aren't these people so darling?

Rebecca- I'll see you there in my heart.

Ms. Bastard- Nope. This is the men's show. Love you, honey.

    Ms. Fleur- Thanks, babydoll!

    Lora- Thank-you, sweet mama.

Cindy- Thank-you and thank-you for stopping by. I envy you your film work. It is a great thing, isn't it, to be part of a team like that?

AJ- Knowing me I might actually do that.

Angie- Oh, it's just a fake-believe pill, made up for the play. But it sure would be nice if there were a real one.

  15. Thanks for sharing.

  19. Oh, this is so exciting. I think as I type this you might already be performing. I wish that I was there and know that if I were I'd be grinning ear to ear, holding my breath for you to remember your lines and then throwing masses of roses at you at the finale.

    Love you!

  20. By now you're in character and in full voice. I'd LOVE to see you and this play, it sounds like too much fun. Hope you take twenty bows and party like a teenager after.

  21. I learned long ago that it was MUCH scarier to sing before my peers, whose talents and voices and ears and everythings I stood in awe of, than to sing in front of 500 people at the Cathedral of St. Augustine if those people were strangers. So, good "we" are not all there, but we're all thinking of you with love and certainty that you will be wonderful, the play will be wonderful, and at the end of the show you will be wrapped in the arms of those you love. From afar, you will be wrapped in the hearts of those who love you but won't be physically present. We do love you so, Ms. Moon.

  22. Oh darling, hurry back to tell us.
I am in bed with my laptop parked on your blog checking to see if there are any news. I know you all deserve a Tony but I want to hear it from you. How I would have loved to be there tonight, sigh.

  23. Hope you had a wonderful performance. I sure do wish I could have been there.

  25. Ms Moon -- By now you will be at what passes for the local Sardi's awaiting the early edition of the local paper with the rave reviews =o)... The set, all the players and the Lovers (with a capital L) are radiating joy. I am sure you all transmitted that feeling to the audience. Can't wait to hear how it went. x0 N2

  27. We're waiting..

    haha..

    HOW DID IT GO?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ms. Fleur- They are very happy.

Elizabeth- There were roses! Colin got all of his leading ladies beautiful little vases of roses with sweet cards, Kathleen gave us beautiful glass roses and Mr. Moon gave me a spray of baby roses. Yay, roses!

Kathleen Scott- Well, we got a standing ovation but that usually happens at the Opera House. It was so fun.

Angie C- It was SO lovely. Wish you could have been there. You understand about the performing.

    Allegra- You're such a darling.

Michelle- I wish you could have been here, too!

Maggie May- It's more glorious than I thought it would be at this age. I'll tell you that.

N2- Oh my Lord. No Sardi's and the paper? Well. The reviewer? Well. Now THERE's another story.

Rebecca- No sleeping in as Owen came early.
    Thank-you so.

    AJ- Now you know.
