Could There Be A More Beautiful Day?

I talked to Billy last night. The section is scheduled for five-thirty this afternoon and they'll be checking into the hospital around two.
And I talked to both of them this morning and they sound so happy. So very, very happy. This is the day they're going to meet their child. They've been up since before dawn because who can sleep on such a day?

I'm going into town this afternoon to run errands, see my grandson whom I have not seen since FRIDAY, and then go to the hospital to wait until Tater makes his appearance. Ah yah- the happiness!

And it is the most gorgeous day here. The sun is shining, the sky is as blue as Paul Newman's eyes and as clear as a newborn's conscience. A newborn's soul. A newborn's clear, blue eyes.

I tell you something- there's a lot of craziness in this world. There's much to fear and to feel anxiety about. But as long as these babies keep coming to bless us with their presence, their promise, I think we can hang on.
And try to make it better. We have to step out into the world and welcome what they bring and do what we can to honor all of them.

We have to, don't we?
We just have to.

  1. Yes amazing Ms. Moon, we do have to step out, bring joy around us and reflect it out, and make the space of love and light for everyone we think about and see.

Hugs to you this beautiful morning,
    Mary

  2. It is an equally beautiful morning here, though most assuredly much colder; and although I think 5:30 pm is an odd time to schedule surgery, well, it IS just the right time to have a baby. Any time is the right time for that.

Sweet hugs to you and yours today, Ms. Moon.

  4. You are right, we just have to. What an exciting day! I wish I didn't have to work while it is so pretty outside. I may just have to go for a walk at lunch time!

  5. I am glad to hear Tater will be joining the world and I can imagine how excited his parents must be. It is a great day welcoming your child into the world. And you are right about trying to make it better for our children. That is my goal. To raise a fine, young man who will try to make the world a better place like his momma and I did.

  6. I always thought that newborn's eyes were cloudy or stormy blue. But I like your analogy better.

Paul Newman's ginger dressing is soooo good. It's the only bottled dressing I like too.

  7. I've been thinking about all of this woman stuff. Getting older, having babies, our babies, love and despair.

I thought of you for some reason, when I was writing a little poem this morning.

    Thanks for being you.

  8. You are so wise, Ms. Moon, and so right. Today there are blue skies here as well, and babies to welcome make things make more sense, and keep us grounded. Enjoy all those new people!
