Update

No. It was not a pulmonary embolism.
Why am I not surprised?

  1. doesn't it feel good to be right- i am sorry your mom had to go through all that to find out she was okay. sometimes i think doctors trade their book learning for common sense and go straight to the worst case scenario- which unfortunately sometimes negates checking out the simpler things first.

i hope you get a good rest after all you had to deal with today.

  3. The situation with your mom and the resident reminded me of a good book I just finished called "How Doctors Think" by Jerome Groopman It discusses the obvious, and also separates how residents vs. doctors with many years of experience think.

  4. Well, that is a relief. Now she can just eat Tums and feel better. Nice to know that she has a clean bill of health, right?

  5. Oh lawd, Ms. Moon. Where have I been?
Catching up on this week's posts.
You know I know this is some hard shit to deal with. Throws a girl totally off kilter.
    Always always thinking of you

  7. Oh dear, I've missed some things, being so busy this week. That's quite a lot of medical invasiveness for some acid reflux. Glad you were right, and she doesn't have a PE. I had a friend with one last winter (damn Yaz pill) and yeah, shortness of breath is a pretty big component. I hope your week slows down and you get a chance to breathe and rest.

  8. Thank God you were correct about the Moms. I am concerned that you are going to run yourself ragged with everything that's going on. Please don't forget to take a nap or sit on the porch and relax when you can.

I love you, and I realize I sound like your mother. Whatever.

  10. Mrs. A- I slept like the dead. Thank-you.

Tamarra- And the damn thing is, even if we KNOW we're right and they're wrong, it's so hard to put our feet down and say, "Hell, no."

Syd- I already knew she was totally healthy. But yes, now we know for certain.

Michelle- I may be e-mailing you one of these days. I sure was thinking about you yesterday.

Elizabeth- Dang. That sounds so good.
    One day.

Lora- Slow down? Me? These days? Sigh.

Ms. Bastard-Beloved- You can be my mother any day. I'll be yours too.

Stephanie- Don't we love Ms. Bastard? She always makes us laugh.
